Just starting to strip / refurbish a set of CB750 K0 carbs so thought I'd start documenting it here for whomever might be vaguely interested...
Firstly, a MASSIVE thanks to Bitsa (Ralph) for sourcing these for me - a true gent, thanks again Bitsa.
Have started the strip-down last night in prep for cleaning in my ultrasonic bath. Overall the set is in lovely original condition - you can even see a hint of rainbow / mother of pearl type finish on the original body castings - a nice sign of an original unrestored set.
Unfortunately the main alloy carb plate was fractured in transport - nothing to do with the way they were packaged, probably more down to Parcelforce monkeys but ho-hum. I'll either source a good used part or use on of these for the rebuild of this particular set: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181312295606?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Some photos of the set and strip down:

James, No heavy handed on those slow jets ;)
-
Yep been there done that :-). Will be putting new jets (slow and main) back into these. For some reason it had 140 main jets installed...???

My alloy plate was broken too but had it welded together OK. Otherwise Yamiya sell them I believe.
Cheers ... Ash

Great find on them carbs , well done Bitsa, you lucky bugger James
That bracket was probably fractured anyway, they are wafer thin and very badly designed, the ones that guy makes are solid, but it depends on how original you want them, there is an original on ebay Germany at the moment James if you are looking for one
I actually used those low heat ally welding rods and a roofing torch and welded my broken one up, it seems strong enough but wont win any prizes for neatness
Will you be replating the linkages and bits James?

Plan is to gently clean this set rather than replate, refurbish and lose the original finish.
So all clean now and out of the ultrasonic tank....

-
Lost me there Graham...:-). Just sharing the love...
-
I always leave the body's as they are after the ultrasonic, polish the bowls and tops.
Love these carb's, so easy to work on.
-
Nice original finish to the alloy bodies James.
-
Nice work james
