The engine was in a bit of a sad state when I bought the bike so didnt ride it, just stripped it down. The end float on the selector drum is only a few thou so is proberbly ok, but as I say does anyone have any selector forks I can buy from so I can check if mine are bent slightly

CB750 / 750 SOHC Gearbox
« on: March 20, 2011, 04:51:57 PM »
Got a problem with the gearbox on my 750sohc. After building the unit up I have found that there is a noise from the gearbox when in neutral when running. Its as if there is a dog on one of the shafts that is to close to the corresponding cog that it mates to. When I press the selector drum in the noise gets worse and when I pull it out it seems to clear the noise. When I say pull it out there is only a few thou end float but it does make a difference. I have now stripped the engine and looking at the gearbox find it hard to see anything wrong(all the circlips and washers are present. The only thing I can think of is that maybe one of the selector forks could be slightly bent and not clearing the cogs enough. Any thoughts anyone? Also does anyone have a set of selector forks(3) they can sell me then I can compare with mine

Hi There
On the diagram it shows a plain steal pressure plate against the alloy clutch pressure plate. Is this right?
Also can anyone tell me what the Ring Clutch plate stopper does as I dont have one. does it go between the last steal plate and cork plate
Also what does the Ring Clutch plate OUTER do as I dont have one on mine either
All a bit confusing---Dont suppose anyones got a COMPLETE clutch they can sell me wiyh all the bits I am missing?

The engine is a k4
But perhaps it has a later clutch assembly?
If so will it fit and can I omit the splined washer and circlip?

Hi There
Got a bit of a problem when rebuilding the clutch on my 750sohc. Bought the bike in bits and when building the clutch up cannot understand my parts list components. I have fit the outer clutch drum first then it says there is a circlip and the splined washer(outer) next, but when I got a new circlip it dosnt seem to retain anywhere on the shaft or casing and when I fit the splined washer on the shaft, the splines on the shaft dont go full lenght(last 1/4ins or so is just a plain shaft so the washer just floats about at the back of the shaft. What can you experts tell me?

CB750 / cb750sohc k6 clutch

Hi There
just finished rebuilding my K6 but just need the CONICAL WASHER that fits behind the centre tab washer that holds the clutch basket on.
Silvers dont have them any more, so anyone out there got a secondhand one they can sell me?
Also I have a splined washer that fits on the clutch main shaft then seems to simply float about against the basket body, should I simply eliminate this as I have been told it could be from an earlier model. It dosn't show it on the Haynes manual.
Anyway hoping someone will have the conical washer.
Cheers
