Title: HT lead markers
Post by: Orcade-Ian on February 11, 2020, 06:48:56 PM
Anyone know of a source of the white on black HT lead markers?  Plenty of black on white available.  My coils had been butchered and yellow silicone sections added to a stub of a few inches of the original - hideous! and can’t see how they were ever waterproof.
Anyway, following Ash’s excellent pictorial walk through - many thanks - I’ve nearly done with the makeover but would like some markers.  They are a crack over 9mm inside diameter.

I get mine from Piki if that is the type you are looking for (self adhesive ones)

Thanks Julie,
The originals were just slipped on but I’ll be happy with self adhesive,

Best regards,
Ian

I found that these and any sticker don't like to stick to silicone rubber so, a cover of clear heat shrink does the job.

Thanks Graham,
That’s a useful tip, I’ll try that - are those exhaust studs just bright zinc or stainless?
My outer sleeving was missing because of the bodge but I’ve just ordered some from Venhill.  It’s ever so slightly bigger in the bore than standard but at least it won’t end up like trying to fit a condom to an elephant - not that I ever have of course!

They are the old studs that have been re zinc plated  :o
Hilltop do the correct size sleeving at 7.5mm  ;)

Thanks Graham,
That’s the size that Venhill have too, I wasn’t sure that the original had 0.5mm diametral clearance, which only equates to 10 thou inside wall to HT lead clearance.

The Hilltop stuff is got is silicone rubber though (not that that's a bad thing) but more a really dark grey than black in appearance. Bore looks pretty spot on to me. Took a bit of finding that stuff.
