Title: Looking forward to getting home to finish my bike

Im hoping to get my bike finished, when I get home from offshore, if I can sort my main bearings Im about 5 and half Grand out so far, I have the frame and bits powder coated, the sump, oil filter and crankcases powder coated , I've respoked the wheels with stainless rims and spokes, rebuilt the clocks, lots of new bearings and internals in the engine, rechromed headers, and a nearly new looking 1980's Marshal deeptone pipe, the Bike is an F2 but I got it painted the ruby red the same as my original from 1981 ( my thumbnail of me at 17), so roll on home time.

The bars look tooo wide for a 400, what is the length ?

I dont know they were listed as 400 bars and have the holes for the cables Im sure they will look narrower when I fit the switches and brake. I also done all my crankcase bolts with a home Zinc plating kit.

Looking good Ogri. I bought the same repro bars and compared them to the ones on my original 400/4. They were exactly the same length although the ones I bought were not from Burtons but another e-bay shop, there's a few places selling these.
Good luck with the rebuild and keep posting progress photos.

I bought one of these kits you get but I also bought a vairaible power supply the type an electronics person would use and I put in a fish tank heater to keep the electrolyte at the correct temperature and a fish tank pump to agitate the liquid It takes a bit of experimenting with the  current and voltage but one you get it set up you can start a production line.

To be honest it more hassle than its worth but Im one of these people that when I get a bee in my bonnet to try something I cant let it go, I have a garage full of equipment and tools that I have just used once to fix something that I could have easily replaced for a fraction of the price, its my naturally inquisitive engineering twisted mind.

Im sure Im not the only one here in fact there are probably only a few who aren't like that. :D
