After spending £28 on a splendid looking wheel bearing retainer removal tool. Which I should imagine I would use only once.
Did it work? Did it F!!!
So I removed the retainer the same way as I had to 40yrs earlier. With a Hammer & Chisel.
What a stupid over engineered idea.
What was wrong with a Circlip?
It ranks alongside.
Honda inboard disc brakes &
Honda cable operated disc brake.
There are times I think the designers of these things
Were sniffing glue.
Rant over.
Ah that's better.
Sean.
Ps. NR500.

You can't end your post NR500 without pics
Did you drill the punch mark?
-
You couldn't get the head off with the engine in the frame on that one either :D

Yup. Drilled the punch points.
I think the surface area of the threads overwhelms the strength of the aluminium its made of.
I forgot to mention the entire VF range.

I forgot to mention the entire VF range.
Without which we’d never have had the VFR

can you stop being rude about honda design failures. i actually like my DN-01!

They went through a bad time with cam chain tensioners too but on balance I think it is fair to say that Honda designers got a lot more right than they got wrong.
-
I agree. That's why they are the worlds biggest.
In my opinion. The Vfr engine. Is the best motorcycle engine ever built. By a long way.
The Cb/d engine is a masterpiece of performance/ simplicity. But lost the plot with the 200, imo.
