Hi,
A big thank you to Nurse Julie for helping me with registering. I am Andy from Ipswich and the proud owner of a 1976 CB400/4.
I bought the bike last year as a retirement treat for myself and look forward to many years of enjoyment riding it.
The bike is in pretty good shape although since I have had it I have replaced the fuel tap, tank rubbers and grips. The RH side panel needed repairing which was done by a local guy called Brian Greenfield who is a recommended plastic welder. I am in the process of painting them and needed to find a template for the stickers which led me to your site. I now have this information, thanks to you guys, and will be able to continue with the project.

Hi Andy and welcome, you got here in the end. Enjoy the forum. I have seen a photo of your bike on FB, it looks nice and bright. Is it a F2 but in solid blue, an F colour?
Edit....F1 ?

Hi Julie,
Thanks for the welcome :)
In answer to your question, according to the V5 it is a CB400F in its original colour Blue.

The original Varnish Blue is growing on me as the years go by, I never really liked it, probably because my first CB400/4 in the late 70's was Parakeet Yellow and my current one is Candy Antares. But, I'm beginning to think the blue looks smart.

Looking at you intro Andy, if you need any decals or stickers Piki (Redice) on the forum supplies many of us. Great quality and price and does the complete range for SOHC's.
-
Julie,
Thanks for the heads up on the decals , I have already got a set for my side panels from Silvers but its good to know for future reference.
Yellow would have been my first choice but the blue comes in a close second for me ;)
-
The original Varnish blue is lighter than yours, I prefer the darker colour blue of yours..[attachimg=1]

As far as I can tell it's never been resprayed apart from the frame, the sticker on the side panel is from the dealer it was purchased from originally which makes me think that it is genuine. It could be that the photo is misleading.
-
Yes, it could be the photo, anyway, I like your colour more, whatever it is 😀
-
The Pub signs are Varnish Blue as well ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

this is my old blue un.
it had always been garaged and was very original..
the blue was real rich ...perhaps the sun fades them back
