Part number 11 in the attached image. What is it and what does it do? I kept everything in bags when I stripped the bike down and this part wasn't there, honest. ???
Oops, here is the image:

Its a little rubber tube, used as a cushion/buffer I think to govern the free play. It replaced the adjusting screw & locknut for free play on the original Honda 750 sandcast /K0 master cylinder.

Thanks Ash, still doesn't make and sense though. I assume it works on the lever somehow.

Dont remember it being fitted on later models

I think its just there to stop the lever rattling against the bracket when you let go of it. In other words its a little damper...typical honda attention to detail. Just cut a short piece of rubber hose and push it in.

Also fitted to the CB400/4. Anti rattle thingy.

Thanks everyone, now sorted using a small piece of Scottoiler delivery tubing that just happens to be exactly the right diameter. ;D

You are quite right oddjob, had a bit of brainfog earlier, waiting to go home

My late 550K doesn't have it.

Either a different MC or someone removed it not knowing what it was IMO.
