So, was it worth the $14,600?  Another one has popped its head up>>http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ebaymotors/1969-CB750-sandcast-CB-750-/271589897784?
And i have heard that one is available in Canada.

I love the question:

"What is a sandcast and why is it so expensive"

To be fair, the seller managed to give a civil answer....

What amazed me was when DSS won the Sandcast from the Mecum auction for $13.5k for his museum. The guys at SOOC forum were mega tight lipped about it and hardly commented on it when I asked them their opinion on its originality. They normally jump all over bikes for sale/auctions etc. with criticisms. Guess they all kicked themselves that is shows the proper worth of those bikes at a 'normal' automotive auction and it obviously never got noticed by Vic World. They jumped all over a UK guy a couple of years back about originality of his really nice original Sandcast eBay listing and he challenged them to come over and see it to prove them wrong but if they were correct he would pay their flight/hotel bill. In the end he got so pi**ed of with them then he took it off eBay and sold it to someone in the UK who had always wanted to buy it from him. Don't get me wrong they are a great bunch of guys on there, with a wealth of info. to offer,  but the obsession they have to originality is obsessive and unfortunately addictive.

Can't wait to see that Mecum at the DSS Museum when it opens next year. He sent me some highish res photos of it and apart from the 'soggy bottom' seat it looked spot on to me.

It was quite a reasonable price compared to what some sandcast bikes make, obviously worth it to the buyer

I hear what your saying ash about the Sandcast forum, i am finding the site to be judge , jury, and executioner about everything sandcast, it can be a bit harsh if you have not got 15k to spend on restoration to absolute original spec, but a great place for info an knowledge, no good for chat and banter though

ChrisR is a member on there though, he's from the UK and a great guy and an absolute mine of info on CB750's. Most of the stuff I know about CB750's Chris was kind enough to tell me (not forgetting Bryan on here of course who also knows Chris as does UKPete).
