Hi Jojotut. Re colour, found mine after I took the headlamp lens off. The original colour (candy blue green) was still intact inside the headlamp bucket. Mine is a April 1970 model (made, then registered Sep 1970). Hope this is of some help. Cheers Chris.

Hi Pete. Well have moved on a bit since my last post. The cylinder head is now in the hands of the cylinder head shop and when xmas is over I have to get some oversize valves due to the seats needing cutting, also the case barrels and head have been vapour blasted so look great, will be having the cases painted soon (its all money) still have a list of stuff to get like bearings ((roller) and chains and stuff to bring it up to a good motor, but looking at the componets all seems to be in good order. Looks like I'll be fitting a 4 into 2 exhuast system (only becuase allready have) untill the HM300's are in stock with DS if and when they do them. I plan to get the engine up and running via the bench test method first before it goes in the frame as to ensure nothing leaks and oil is getting to all the right parts icluding the head as have had problems in the past (wrecked cams). Not sure if anybody knows if the oil ways in my head are fixed as in the later heads as the head I have is an early 1(short intake stubs) as I would like to take them out and make sure the are clear. The wheels are also away to be respoked (stainlesss) so should be getting them back in the new year. They are fitted with alloy rims I am aware these are not the original but they are what was fitted when I brought the bike in 1980. Anyway all the very best for The new year and hopefully there will be another K0 giving it what for on the roads where they belong. Safe riding all. Chris D.

Cheers Pete. I'll try to get some pics on but have trouble with the file size and no program to squeeze them to 300mb. At the moment things are waiting on bits and pieces and of course dosh. As soon as i get moving i'll get back to the forum hopefully this wont be to long things seemed to have stalled a bit. Anyway looking to get completed around june/july time so better get my finger out. I too have a new set of HM341,s but hopefully DS will come up with the goods at a price we  can afford. Cheers Chris.

Hi. Looking good and love the pics. I also have a K0 that is in process at the moment. re the forks I sent mine away to Philpotts hardchrome and they come back as new. I am finding getting bits a pain or very expensive I would love a new HM300 set of exhuasts but waited to late and they became discontinued . This Fri i'll be picking up my engine cases and cylinders and head. These have been vapour blasted so should look the nuts. The head is the original one so will go away to be refurbed and valves recut etc. I'll have to post some pics as you have which makes for good reading and identifies what your talking about. All the best from a fellow K0 owner.

Hello top end fixer.

Yep will post some pics when rebuild starts in ernest, just wanted to get engine running properly as always did have idle probs but not so now as utrasoniced the carbs  and balanced ,all new internals to carbs and set floats properly. It now sounds the bizz. When I brought the bike in 1980 (yes I have had it that long) it was all black and would not run as some one had fitted the carb slides the wrong way round. When I rebuilt it in 88 the camshaft had a roller bearing conversion (never seen one before or since) which i ruined due to the too much holymer prob and fitted a later head, I now have a few spares and the original head will go back on when I get to that stage but will go in with all new primarysand camshaft chain and anything else tha needs doing. I have learnt a lot since a while back so hopefully this rebuild will go better and I am taking it back to it original colour which is candy blue green, however am having probs getting fork ears and finding some one who can respray the tank etc. So all is ongoing and cheers all for the info.

Chris.

Hello, Cheers for info regards file size, managed to get the files smaller so here goes. This is the cylinder head from my K0, hope it identifys yours, any one out there know of anybody who can repair a hole going down from the cam carrier stud , yonks ago i had a helicoil done and the twerps drilledight thro to above the spark plug and when i refitted the head got a constant leak from there hence why i got another head and fitted that not sure what K it came off but seems to run ok. Any way love the forum and its been most helpfull.

Hi Guys.  Just a quick note re ultrasonic cleaner, have recently brough a JPL 8050 from Maplins and bunged in my carbs from my K0... really did work well needed a couple of goes and you can clean 2 carbs in the 2.5ltr tub,its at a good price at mo.. get the metal gleam for best results...

All the best Chris.

Hi top end fixer and cheers for the welcome, yep did use blue holymer on the 88 rebuild and yep plastered it on, so goes to prove to much is not always the best?. Just in process now of getting carbs sorted and came across a few bits in the rebuild kits that are of no use to my beast, namely the air screws that have holes in them and the bike would not idle, so brought a ultrasonic cleaner and cleaned up all the carbs and refitted the old air screws and bingo more or less a perfect idle staright away. Just got to sync them up and hopefully smoothnerss will return (do get a slight pop from No2 pot but it seems to have always done that).

Cheers Chris.

Hello.

Yep can identify with the previous posts, rebuild my K0 in 88 and used to much gasket goo on the cases which got up to the cam carriers and yep blocked the restrictors and blew away a cam and followers, took out the engine and cleaned it all up but this time made sure had good flow by connecting up oil tank and mounting the engine on a dexion frame and turned it over untill oil flowed well to the top end. Refitted and and its still oiling ok. In process of rebuilding bike back to original colour so will have engine apart again to renew primarys and cam chain and anything else that looks suspect.

Cheers all Chris.
