I knew there was someone else Peter - sorry for forgetting you!

Maybe you should write it up for the "For Sale" section. I'll sticky it for you.

Hello Pete.

The '95 CB750 is a very different beast from the old SOHC bikes that we talk about here. However, that doesn't mean that we won't discuss them!

There's a guy in Holland called "lecram" on the .net site that does this. He mostly supplies new faces but I'm sure that he rebuilds entire instruments as well (ask him!)

If you have resisive caps you don't need resistive plugs (and vice versa)

If you are running electronic ignition it probably won't matter, but the alternators on these old bikes were barely up to it in the 70's (when radio interference didn't matter!)

Hi Marek.

Yes I did get your message and was about to post the following answer:

The .net site is probably your best bet for advice on fitting modern front ends to a 500/4 (as there are 10k+ members there and more likely that someone has already tried it). I suggest you start a thread in the "Project" forum and make sure you put the words "modern front end on 500/4" or similar to attract the guys that may have done this.

Do the same here but in the CB500 forum.

The stock answer would be that you can fit anything to anything with the right tools and equipment. If you are happy working with castor angles and stuff like that, I'd say give it a go.

Some of the 400 guys here may have advice too (TTR400 in South Africa for example)

Good luck and post lots of pictures!

My room-mate at Uni had a yellow F1 - it was a great bike.

If it is not taxed or SORNed now then they don't know about it.

Once taxed or SORNed you will have to insure them - all my SORNed bikes are insured anyway (what if the barn burned down?).

37bhp vs 50bhp.

You'd lose the agility of the 400 by using the larger rolling chassis.

Still, as they say, you can fit anything to anything with a bit of fabrication!

That Tony Foale 500 was just a picture that I found on the internet...

However, here's a picture of my Dresda CB750 (for sale to the right enthusiast!)
