Back in the 70's we had an ingenious solution for this (well, we were all electronics students...):

  • Remove coils (incl HT leads!) and place in nice warm airing cupboard for a few days
  • Rough up area around the HT/coil join with sharp screwdriver - makes purchase for...
  • Apply RTV (Room Temp Vulcanising) rubber compound to seal join

Worked (most of the time - just make sure you don't leave any gaps)

A saw a CBX1000 with a plastic carrier bag wrapped around the coils once - it was melted!

The needles could be worn. They get a "step" in them.

This is a bit of a marathon, but you might pick up some tips as to what would work from here:

Have you tried www.sohc4.net?

Go to http://forums.sohc4.net and type "350 cam chain tensioner rebuild" (or similar) into the search box.

There's strength in depth over there.

John.

I wrote a FAQ on .net called "Divided by a Common Language" (or something like that), but it appears to have gone  ???

It was a celebration of linguistic differences...

Hi Geordie.

There may be someone in the UK/Europe doing this, but the most-used is a guy called "Terry in Australia" who resides on the US forum http://forums.sohc4.net

He makes them himself.  Details here:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=13548.msg135173#msg135173

He's a long-time member with 10,000+ posts so you might have a problem sorting through it all - email him direct...
