Back in the 70's we had an ingenious solution for this (well, we were all electronics students...):
Worked (most of the time - just make sure you don't leave any gaps)
A saw a CBX1000 with a plastic carrier bag wrapped around the coils once - it was melted!
- Remove coils (incl HT leads!) and place in nice warm airing cupboard for a few days
- Rough up area around the HT/coil join with sharp screwdriver - makes purchase for...
- Apply RTV (Room Temp Vulcanising) rubber compound to seal join
