Project Board / Re: Doms CB550F1 project

I got there in the end, it took ages to get air out of the new master cylinder which was made harder because my clip ons have a 15° downward angle on them so air was sitting at the top slightly above the mc piston inlet.  Solved it by rolling the bike up the slope of my drive and putting it on the side stand.

Lesson learned!

had a chance to try a ride, only about 10 miles but a big improvement on before. the big flat spot is much reduced since changing the needle clip position and the clutch also feels better. A weird thing happens though when i open the throttle to accelerate It sometimes snatches as if i had momentarily pulled the clutch in, strange, and carbs still need setting better as get a hanging idle sometimes. At least I had an enjoyable ride with a reasonable chance of getting home with no unplanned stops!

I know Chris lives up your way Ash, he's a very good customer of mine and has been buying parts from me regularly for quite a few years now.

CB750 / Re: What's this all about ??

Very interesting within Honda, is that they've built so so many different types in configuration and application, all good to compare design traits etc.

The three mentioned above all allmin the same area in regard to bhp per cylinder, more importantly loading (torque)  and speed all being close to specify a bearing for use in.

The detail in your thread about prototype 750, the small original big ends suggest it either started as a roller bearing crank or sized upward 8f origin in plain bearing, to control crank twist perhaps.
Around that time were the car engine 4 cylinder too, with roller bearing crankshaft.
