Title: Tapered bearing upgrade - what parts are missing?
Post by: alexdecker on July 07, 2022, 01:00:40 PM
Hey all

Got the tapered bearing upgrade for my steering from CMS. The kit came with two bearings with races and a spacer, but not the dust seals (https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb550f2-super-sport-550-four-1977-european-direct-sales_model17122/tapered-steering-bearing-kit_ssh750/ (https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb550f2-super-sport-550-four-1977-european-direct-sales_model17122/tapered-steering-bearing-kit_ssh750/)). Does anyone have parts numbers on the seals that needs to be used with the tapered bearing upgrade? Also, I assume the spacer coming with the set is going on the stem as the first part. But do I need to finish with a spacer in the top as well?

Spacer onto the stem, first thing on. Then seal, the bottom race. Install bottom and top race cups into frame, upper race fitted when stem inside frame and capped with the nut with the domed washer which is also a dust seal, lots of grease as you install.

This MAY fit, you'd need to check.
