CB350/400 / Satin Black! What am I doing wrong?
« on: November 12, 2018, 09:26:31 AM »
Hi All,
I have sprayed my calipers with PJ1 Satin Black. They have come out as matt as can be, look great but not the satin finish I was after. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

CB350/400 / CB400 spring washer?
« on: November 09, 2018, 09:26:58 PM »
Does anyone recognise this spring washer?

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

When I stripped the bike it came from here:

However the parts manual doesn't show this but has the rubber washer:

The thing is, I recognise the washer in the back of my mind from years ago as if it is from the 400. But the parts manual says not. Any ideas / help appreciated.

CB350/400 / Oil Pump Washer?
« on: November 05, 2018, 11:38:47 AM »
Yesterday when I went to use my ultrasonic bath I found a washer in the bottom. Having given it some thought I think it belongs to the oil pump. The thing is I don't remember seeing it when I cleaned the pump. So pump is back off the bike and I think I can see where it should go, position A in the picture, but could be position B. Or I suppose it could be neither. I would appreciate it if someone could confirm either way. TIA.

CB350/400 / CB400 Points
« on: November 01, 2018, 09:00:52 PM »
My parts manual lists two different numbers for each of the contact breakers.
No 1 & 4 has parts 30203-300-154 and 30204-333-004.
No 2 & 3 has parts 30204-300-154 and 30203-333-004.
What I'd like to know is if there is any real difference and does it matter which I buy?
TIA

CB350/400 / Carburetor Overhaul
« on: September 03, 2018, 08:53:19 PM »
Hi, can anyone advise on the following before I break something.
Would like to get the butterfly shaft out so I can overhaul all the parts. The shaft rotates freely but has little lateral movement. I am assuming that it is held in by a pin (see pic).
Is this something I have to drill out to remove the shaft? Any advise appreciated.

CB350/400 / Speedo Drive
« on: May 16, 2018, 12:22:58 PM »
I'm looking for some advice on my speedo drive. I would like to strip and clean up. Has anyone got any tips on getting it apart? Little screw comes out easily enough but where do I go from there without butchering it?

By little screw I don't mean the one in the picture, it's a very small one out of view.

CB350/400 / CB400 Swing arm Collar
« on: May 12, 2018, 02:15:37 PM »
Hi,

The swing arm collar seems 'loose' in the bushes. Not sure whether it's worn over the years.

Does anyone know the spec / tolerances for the collar?

Project Board / Restoring Chrome
« on: May 05, 2018, 09:00:44 AM »
Having spoken to the local chromer, who said that it would cost about the same to re-chrome my parts as it would to buy new (outside my budget), I decided to have a go at cleaning up the parts myself.
This is what I started with:

This is how they’ve cleaned up so far. Haven’t polished them yet.

The question I’ve got is what do I do about the ends?

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Do I knock off the rest of the loose(ish) stuff? Use Rust Converter? Build up with metal filler? Or should I just clean up and use as is? Any tips would be helpful.

Also is it possible to shine up dull chrome? If so what’s the best thing to use?
