Title: Nuts and Bolts
Post by: waffey on December 03, 2019, 11:28:23 AM
Another newbie question from me.

As I prep myself to get my project going, what you do for nuts, bolts and washers? Reuse the old ones (mine are pretty tatty), is there a specialist supplier or do you use a local firm to purchase them. Also, does the Honda have a finer pitch then standard? Stainless steel or is that a crime?

Any guidance will be gratefully receieved

Your bike your choice, if restoring rather than rebuilding some people want everything original and carefull of stainless screwed into alloy as it can corrode badly, something to do with electrollysis i believe.
Hond use both fine and coarse thread and on 10mm diamete even the 3rd, non preffered, alternative pitch and bolt heads may not be the "standard" size

its rebuilding, not restoring, its a dream to own one, I want to show it off by having it in my lounge and then the occasional use

The one to be VERY careful with is the lower front as if its too long you can punch a hole in the crankcase

I went for the long term usage route, where you can see them the bolts are replated originals where you can't see them and they would rot they are stainless.

Cheers

The best way yo show it off is on the road and occasionally put it in your lounge. ;D
