Title: Classic Bike nights
Post by: meerkat on March 07, 2012, 11:05:05 AM
Hello all classic bike enthusiasts.
For those of you within riding distance of Wray village near Kirkby Lonsdale, the Classic Bike nights are starting again in April and running through to September.
We usually had around 50/60 attendees each night in 2011 with a good mix of machinery.
I'm not connected to the event in any way other than being a regular attender.  :)

A bit too far for me. Shame. A good meet for those a bit further south is at Ashby Folville in Leicestershire held every second Tuesday of the month from April - September. Cars and bikes, old and new.

I've been to a Knottend meet, the cafe was that full I didn't bother trying to get a brew, so plenty of folk there.

I'll get to more this year.

Just another reminder to all bike enthusiasts.

It's getting closer to the first meet of this year at Wray on Thursday 5th April.
Lots of flyers (see my earlier post) were placed at Garstang yesterday, so if the weather holds there should be a good turnout.  :)

Hi Mick,
Sorry we never met last night, although to be fair I wouldn't have known you till now. :) I look forward to speaking with you on your next visit.
I counted in excess of 55 bikes there prior to writing a short report for my 'local' club. The next meets should be a bit warmer and we'll have the benefit of more daylight. Here's one of the photos I took. The May event coincides with the Wray Scarecrow Festival week and if you've never visited before it's well worth going to see it. Details in this link -  http://www.wrayvillage.co.uk/scarecrows.htm/scarecrows/index.htm
Cheers to all - see you next time.

Nice to meet you Bill, my turn to buy the coffees next time, and I hope its a bit warmer next time, when the sun went down it was bloody freezing.

After riding bikes for 30 odd years I finally fitted heated grips last month, how did I manage without them, and glad I had em Thursday night :D

Aye I'm sure we'll catch up some time Mick, see ya next time. Blimey doesn't my old nail look good in your photo LOL ;D

I'm going to try and get to one of these meetings in the near future . Mid week evenings are a bit difficult for me cos as an HGV driver I'm usually up at daft o'clock in the week .

Hi Mick,
Both Tomb and myself were looking out for you but obviously missed you again.
Things were a bit manic tonight with the highest turnout ever. I left early ready to finish packing for a 4 day trip to Scotland on the bike in the morning. Next month should be a bit quieter. See you then.  ;)

Probably not get there this month Bill, sorry.

I'm getting the bike ready for the annual Euro rally, Genk in Belgium this year. Panniers to fit and bit of servicing, spare cables and such to sort out, though the worst crap to sort out is all the paperwork, ins  ...E111 card, ferry, passport, €€€€€'s (beer tokens ;))

Monday night Hull ferry Yeehaaaaa (http://images.paraorkut.com/img/pics/glitters/d/drink-7492.gif)

It's that time of the month again.
Wray Village Classic Bike Night this Thursday (5th) starting at 7.00pm till 9.00pm.
I hope the weather improves - I'm suffering from 'cabin' fever with all the rain. >:(
I left Kendal in sunshine to find it was raining at Wray. It got steadily worse during the evening with a torrential downpour which lasted for quite a long time. Deep water was cascading through the property opposite, flooding the road and sweeping across the cafe outside seating area. A few bikes were abandoned for the night by their owners.
Eventually I left after declining a kind offer of a lift home by car.
Safe navigation at 9.00pm in the dark was possible only by riding slowly in the middle of the road following the 'cats eyes' showing under deep water and reflected in my headlights. I arrived home soaked to the skin through my waterproofs. See a short video of the rain at http://s1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh578/meerkat253/Moving%20pictures/ (http://s1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh578/meerkat253/Moving%20pictures/)
See you all next month ?  ;D

I got home from work in sunshine, got something to eat quick telling my missus I wanted to get out quick,

she said "you'll be lucky, its forecast really heavy thunderstorms and severe weather warnings for tonight"

"Nah, bollox" says I, "I'm going". Ten minutes later it was hammering down with rain, I considered waterproofs but went to the pub instead  ;D ;D  Looks like it was a good choice.

Hats off to you Bill. 8)

Hi and welcome to this forum. :)
I have a friend not far from you at Cleveleys who is a regular attender. The weather has always been a lot better than the freak storm we had last week.
The next meet is on the first Thursday in August, then only one more this year which is in September.

Thursday 2nd August is Classic Bike Night in Wray village (not far from Devil's Bridge) starting at 7.00pm

The cafe will be open as usual and hopefully the weather will be drier than it was at the last meeting.

Hi Mick,
Nice to meet up with you at last. Good turnout there at Wray tonight with 119 bikes parked up at one stage.
Sorry we didn't get to chat for longer, I was a bit concerned whether the BMW would get me home again but it was OK with a few clutch-less changes. I should have used the 400/4.  :-[
Cheers, Bill.

This Thursday 6th September is the final meet at Wray village for 2012.
Starts at 7.00pm as usual and the cafe will be open.

I had clutch problems at the last meeting which I hope I've sorted now so I should be able to spend more time looking at other bikes instead of struggling with mine. :-[
