Misc / Open / Classic M/C Show, White Lion, Baldock April 3rd / 4th.
« on: April 02, 2010, 05:31:21 PM »
3-4 Classic M/C Show, White Lion, Baldock, Herts, is listed in Classic Bike and also on this website.
http://www.bmct.org/html/events_guide.html   - for April 3rd / 4th.

I expect to be there tomorrow pm to have a look as its only a short way from Hertford. Sadly I'll be in the car as I'm in charge of my baby daughter tomorrow. No idea what it will be like - but this pub is bang in the centre of Baldock so very easy to find.

Misc / Open / Recommended goggles for an open face?
« on: December 19, 2009, 03:30:18 PM »
Does anyone use goggles with an open face helmet?  I have the following criteria: must be a single lens, not "Red Baron" style; Must be able to fit glasses underneath if required; not too pricey - c.

CB650 / Help - spindle needed!
« on: November 04, 2009, 10:06:39 AM »
Hi all - I'm trying to locate a fron axle / spindle for my CB650 project and am not seeing many out there - so thought I would ask if anyone has a spare that they are willling to part with.

It needs to be from a CB650 with the leading axle forks (as per picture) - so not the standard UK model. Any help greatly appreciated!

CB650 / Brush on engine paints
« on: September 09, 2009, 10:36:35 AM »
I'm trying to track down a silver brush-on engine paint for my barrels & engine casings.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good one - and know where it is stocked?

Halfords do lots of spray-on ones, and their big stores offer black or red in a brush on version - they don't appear to have silver anywhere near me.

All my local car suppliers tend to offer sprays only. Is brush on a dying art?!

Cheers

CB650 / Frames question
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:49:42 AM »
Hi

I'm investigating frames for 650's as I need one for a project build. I don't want a custom look - just a standard UK bike (is that a Z model?).

Can anyone advise if the 79 / 80 / 81 bikes used the same frames on both the custom and standard model - or does the custom one have differences?

nb - I've looked at a lot of parts fiches for US ones and there are different part numbers, I'm just wondering what the differences actually are (if any) as pictures I've seen look pretty identical.

Be great if someone could post a sideways on picture of either/both of the frame types.

thanks
Andy

New Member Introductions / Hello & piccies from andy120t
« on: August 27, 2009, 11:56:00 AM »
Hi all - a quick post to say hello from Hertford and show a few of my previous bikes and current projects. (piccie a the end of the post).

I've recently become the proud owner of a seized CB650 engine and box of bits (thanks Daz!) which I'm planning to put together as a "parts bin special"  I'll run a separate thread on this rebuild so look out for that. It's been great to find this forum and the US one as there is obviously a lot of knowledge out there. I've already learnt a lot from the various manuals and parts fiches hosted here & - hopefully I can ask all my questions her & find the answers if I get stuck.

My first proper 'bike was a 1971 500/4. The purists amongst you may notice one or two changes from the standard spec on this one! A lovely bike, now long since sold.

More recently I've owned a CB350F - again, not totally standard but great fun to ride and always drew admiring comments.

Currently I also have a CB400 frame which is being introduced to an NC23 engine - with a view to making a Street Scrambler style 'bike. This is on hold whilst I develop my welding skills & get the 650 up and running.

Finally on the Honda front, (although not an SOHC but still a CB), I have a little CB-1 400cc which I've generously loaned to my father!  Sadly, he finds it rather nippy having learnt to ride on WD BSA's and the like. His biggest problem is keeping it charged as all his riding is done in top gear and at slow speeds / low revs!

Anyway, piccies shoud appear below - hope you like them!
