@deltarider Well the known brand are more expensive and I asked DS about theirs and they couldn't tell me the resistance. So I checked with Ash, and he said go for these as the resistance is documented and correct for the bike. Thanks for your advice and feedback, I get where you are coming from, I am also wary of cheap parts especially on the Wild West which is Ebay! However on this occasion, these coils are from Hendler, a UK based company, and supplied to the company I purchased them from, also based in UK, direct link below: https://www.hendler.co.uk/product/hendler-ignition-coil-12v-points-twin-lead-2-wires-90mm-centres-p-511oh-s-1755koh-540612hSounds like you had a bad experience in the past, but alas it makes no difference to me if these were made in UK or PRC, especially as I already have them and they work fine! If the coils are connected the wrong way round the bike will run but the HT spark will be reversed so instead of jumping from the centre spark plug tip to earth the spark path is reversed. {...}
To put it simple: in a wasted spark system, one of the two, is already jumping from ground to center electrode, so if the spark of say #1 plug becomes reversed, than the #4 plug will be reversed the other way around, because they are one circuit. For the running of the engine, it makes no difference which of the two fires from ground to center electrode: performance is the same.

thanks. can you remember if the red was positive? when you switched, do you mean you put the red on the white terminal and white on the red terminal? I've messaged who I purchased them from. but how can I can test which terminal is which? Yes, red and white wires are o new coil and yes they are supplied overly long.

FWIW my Hendler coils were wired for positive earth so I had to switch them to negative earth - this caused clearance issues in the mounting position so I had to ensure the spade terminals did not touch the frame on the inside edge.
The Devil is in the detail when fitting aftermarket options.

Hi All So I am starting to get my head round fitting the new coils.... As per photos below, the original wiring is coloured blue and black/white and yellow black/white the other side. The new ones, as per bottom photo, the wires are solid red and white, so my question is, which way round do the wires go? thanks in advance!

I went with the FA13V ones in the end, as I found a cheaper supplier! Thanks for your help! Good luck with the SBS ones, they squealed when I used them.
They're now in a box under my bench with other bits and bobs labelled shite...
