There is a bolt that goes all the way thoughthe frame and swing arm, that goes through a thick walled steel tube that is "pinched" by the frame when the bolt is tight, the bushes in the swing arm pivot on the outside of this tube. This tube is called a collar by Honda and is same on 750, 550 and 500. I could look up the part number for you but that would spoil your fun
Maybe a stupid question but how do you get the old bushes out? Do I need some special tool?

New bronze bushes from Nurse Julie and probably an expensive collar from Honda plus new greas nipple, cheapest part and that will cure it. Yes the collar wears more than the plastic bushes!!!
Not sure what collar you are referring to

I have just noticed there is play in my rear swing arm. If I grab the rear wheel I can move the rear arm side to side quite a bit.
I am a bit unsure about how to fix this as both Honda manuals I have are not a lot of help.
Yes I have greased it and yes I have checked the nuts are tight !!!
Any advice on how to proceed much appreciated

Hi all, just had the 550 out a run after front brake Caliper clean and Dot 5 upgrade. Cant believe that horrible squeak has gone (for now). As read hear under someone’s recommendation just mearly removed outer edge of pads and that appears to have sorted it. Happy Days!😁 (And quieter too)
Can you put the link to the fix you refer to. My 500 front brake squeal has driven me nuts for years and tried many things

Thanks for all the replies
I have decided that as the play is very little will leave it and add to my winter to do list
Rather just be out riding now it’s warmer 😀😀😀

Just noticed that if I push rear wheel there is a small amount of play movement in the swingarm.
How much play should there be (I assume the answe is none)?
Is it a difficult job to fix and what parts do I need to buy?
Thanks all

I once fitted mine the wrong way round. If you do it is impossible to get the timing chain on so sounds like you did it right

Im no expert but mine rattles as well when cold. I think from what i have seen over the years on various sites this is not unusual
Did you change the primary chain on the rebuild as this doesn't sound like valves to me

I went round the houses trying to fix the same problem and got very frustrated.
As Trig says there is an issue with the thickness difference between aftermarket head gaskets and OE ones.
I finally cured mine by……….
1 Using an OE gasket (DSS can supply)
2 Having the head skimmed to ensure it was flat
Since I did the above no probs at all.
