Would anyone know if have cleaned and sandblasted the head and barrels, if I wanted to leave it unpainted would I have to coat it with anything to prevent oxidisation etc?

Obv thinking a high temp VHT preferably a satin black?
Also I was going to use an acid etch primer due to the aluminium?
Will any acid etch work? Does it come in a high temp version?

I wanted to remove the dust covers from mine to give a more sporty feel and had the same issue. My spring compressors would touch before compressing the spring.
I ended up threading a standard ratchet strap through the springs and tightened it up enuogh to remove the covers. It wasnt easy... just remember to put something inbetween the ratchet and the spring, as it tightens it contacts the spring and will mark it.
Just an idea for ya

Everything is standard.. tyres and shocks!!
Just popped outside and measured it 21.5 cm

Thanks for that seabeowner!! Ill measure mine you never know it may be a completley wrong side stand.
I've tried the usual things like checking if the mount is bent, any free play etc.. im also running period dunlop tyres so not oversized on standard 18" and 19" wheels!
Its very odd!!

This is a similar issue i have... my cb550F Supersport came with what I can only assume is the wrong side stand. The bike leans over far too much, almost to the degree I poo my pants when I lean the bike over and think I havent put the stand down at all!!
I wish I knew what the correct stand is for my frame as purchasing second hand stands for trial and error purposes will be very expensive!
If anyone has one I can try or are willing to part with please let me know!

Thanks guys it is a Cb550f super sport may have had the housing changed at some point! Seen them on dss but was hoping somebody might have had a half decent one lying around?
I won’t hold my breath tho.. the only second hand ones I’ve seen have been down the road bearing the weight of the bike on it!!

Has anyone got the Honda emblem plate which attaches to the front of the stator housing on a Cb550f it’s the one that attaches via three clips on the back and not the one that is the complete housing!

Looking to have my 550 tank done and don’t really want to pay an arm or a leg.
I understand you pay for what you get, but some of you may have had paint done at a reasonable price??
