CB750 / CB750K2 Needle Jet
« on: March 07, 2014, 10:06:10 PM »
Hi Guys
How do you remove the needle jet? Just fitting full set of Keyster jets/etc and it looks like a push fit but don't want to try driving it out from the wrong end.  Theres also a o ring in the kit, is that for the drain and a small washer that I cant figure out where it fits.
Also, main jet that was in was 105 and new Keyster one is 110? Which  is right - I've got Cruzimage bigbore kit on so which is best suited?
Thanks

CB750 / CB750 Forks
« on: March 02, 2014, 05:36:43 PM »
Hi Guys
Have just received a set of forks with twin disc conversion parts from ebay - was attracted by the twin disc bit. But on checking them next to the set I have, the fork bottoms are approx. an inch longer! The axle to disc/mudguard mounts are the same so if I didn't want originality(which I do), they would fit. Any idea what model they are off? My guess is F1/F2/K7? Apart from the extra inch, they look identical
Thanks

CB750 / Honda cb750k2 Carb opening machanism
« on: February 28, 2014, 10:37:09 PM »
Hi Guys
Continuing on the theme of 'never buy a bike in boxes' - have just refurbed carbs - clean, polished, re-zinced but its recome apparent that theres bits missing,  The push pull cable holder has had the close cable holder cut off (why!!!!) - its just got the open cable holder.  And theres no return spring and clip (that fits in the blanked off fuel holes between 2 and 3 carbs).  Has anyone got these parts that they can sell me to save buying a complete set of carbs or silly prices for US postage?
Any help much appreciated

CB750 / Honda CB750k2 starter and earth cables wanted
« on: February 23, 2014, 07:48:54 PM »
Hi Everyone
Has anyone got a decent pair of starter to solenoid and earth to battery cables they can sell me. Can't find any on ebay except in America (postage is silly money).  This is the trouble with buying a bike in boxes - there's loads missing!
Thanks

CB750 / cb750k2 Carb hardware
« on: February 17, 2014, 08:02:02 PM »
Hi Guys
With the engine in the frame, I'm onto the carbs. They are now in a thousand bits. Can anyone tell me whether all the external metal parts silver zinc or cadmium (goldish) in colour?
Thanks

CB750 / cb750 head gasket
« on: February 11, 2014, 09:28:13 PM »
Hi Guys
Completed rebuild of engine last week and fitted into frame.  As per a previous enquiry, I fitted some high performance valve springs (from a spare American import engine) that included shims which I didn't fit because thought there was enough extra spring strength.  Anyway, got paranoid and couldn't remember whether I'd fitted the aftermarket spring seat (or whether the unfitted shims where actually used as the seat) and had to re-strip top end to check and for my piece of mind. Turns out that I had fitted the valve spring seats and it was a waste of a night - but now have piece of mind!
Question is - whats your thoughts on re-using the head gasket which has compressed from 1.35 to 1.15 mm.  Obviously not run engine.  As its a new big bore kit, I'll have to get new gasket from Japan (cruzimage) which will take few weeks.
What do you think?

CB750 / CB750K2 engine rebuild - valve springs
« on: January 15, 2014, 06:56:13 PM »
H guys
Posted a longer version of this post last night but can't find it!
In short building the motor from the best of two engines. One of engines is from America via DK. On stripping valves and springs from American engine (Early K1/2 I think based on schematics because no engine number - previous guidance from forum members suggested cases replaced under warranty due to the chain snapping problems on early models), the valve springs are triple springs! An inner, outer and flat spring that fits between inner and outer. They are slightly wider/higher and the collet retainers are heavy duty machined items when compared to the standard thin retainer.
Can I use these springs with standard camshaft/engine (except standard compression 836 kit)?
Any help appreciated. Still can't upload pics because can't make them small enough.

Misc / Open / Engine rebuild
« on: January 14, 2014, 10:42:45 PM »
Have got the bottom end together and big bore barrels bored - just waiting for knock pins and then barrels will be on.
Before I ask my next question, probably best to give background to my rebuild.
Bought a K2 in total bits in mid 2012 - rusty and heavily corroded crankcases (in bits). Was going to replace most chrome/etc so as long as all tin ware and main chassis bits there I wasn't bothered by condition.
Decided that I would buy a complete motor to rebuild and bought one from DK. But on stripping the top end, it was evident that cam carrier oil way brockage had caused cam journal/carrier damage.
So after a bit of mix n matching between the new engine and engine bits I had, rebuilt bottom end of DK sourced engine (mains/big ends/primary chain/etc/etc) and barrels and head from original bike which was in good order except valve spring missing (and fin damage on DK sourced engine).
As valve springs where out of original head and a bit rusty, I wasn't happy to put them in rebuilt motor and as I'm running out of cash(!) thought I'd use valve springs out of DK sourced motor.
I took them out tonight and they have 3 springs per valve! An inner and outer and an additional flat spring that that runs between the inner and outer. The collet holders are also a heavily machined item compared to the thin standard items.
So has anybody got any idea about these springs and holders and more importantly, will they be ok to use with standard cam and standard set up (except big bore on std compression).
Incidently, turned out the DK motor turned out to have had a 836 kit on.
Thanks

CB750 / Boring for big bore kit
« on: December 31, 2013, 07:18:17 PM »
Hi guys
Just done the rebuild on the bottom end over the holiday period and now moving up the engine and need a recommended reborer near Wigan for the 836 kit.  Prefer someone local(ish) if possible. Any suggestions?
Thanks

CB750 / Fork stantion interchangability
« on: December 17, 2013, 10:52:30 PM »
Hi again guys
I'm on a roll now - I bought my 1975 K2 in a load of rusty pieces and so spending a lot of time replacing with new but am finding that it was a boxs of mixed model parts. It turns out (after a rebuild!) that the forks are cb500Four - only found out when I ordered new fork tops. I've bought a set of K2 forks but they are the early type and doesn't match 1975 model year. I'm going to buy new stations anyway and if I got hold of the later model fork bottoms (might be able to get hold of some), was wondering if the internals from the early K1/K2 forks that I have would fit in the later stantions/fork bottoms?
Tried to upload a few pics before and so far - but unsuccessful again - not techy enough it seems!
Thanks
Phil

CB750 / CB750 Crankcase jointing compound
« on: December 17, 2013, 08:39:28 PM »
Hi Guys
Have just got all the bits for my xmas holiday engine build - verrrrrry expensive! Got the bigbore 836 kit from cruzimage Japan on ebay having done a bit of research on the SOHC forums - service was first class and arrived in a week!
New big ends, mains, bigbore kit, camchain, primary chain and all tensioners.
Its a few years since I've rebuilt an engine - CB1100RB and Phil Read Rep - so reasonably confident except it was about 20 years ago and was wondering what the current thoughts are on what jointing compound to use for upper/lower crankcases?
Also, can anyone recommend a company local to Wigan, Lancashire that can do the rebore for the bigbore kit and cost. I'm not too bothered about having it done quickly provided I get the bottom end completely built up over the xmas break, I'll be pleased.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

CB750 / Big Bore Jetting
« on: December 01, 2013, 11:35:22 AM »
Hi Guys
Have posted a question on 836 big bore kit and thanks to everyone for their advice. So after trawling through previous posts on kit from Japan on ebay, I've decided to go for an 836 kit from Japan that runs standard compression (purely as its cheaper than rebore on original spec pistons).
Anybody recommend jetting for 836 big bore kit on standard compression with standard airbox (with the recommended K&N filter in) and standard exhaust? Obviously, I'm looking at a starting point and know it will need to be tweaked - I'm sure someone will have run this set up before?

CB750 / Honda cb750k2 engine rebuild
« on: November 19, 2013, 08:58:39 PM »
Hi guys
I'm currently rebuilding a basket case cb750k2 and have stripped the motor and am just doing the costings for the rebuild.  Have seen a 836 kit on ebay.  Could I use a big bore kit with std exhaust and airbox (as I want to keep std look). Only looking at bigbore kit as cost is lot cheaper than std pistons/rings - I'm not bothered about performance.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Phil
