Thanks for the help guys.
I Managed to get the old girl going again, I had to buy a new switch from DSS. Managed a quick run to Bemton cliffs to see the puffins, then onward to Flamborough lighthouse for a brew, then home.
Still can't beat the feeling you get riding these old bikes. Love it

This is what is left inside the switch. the white plastic box shown on martin's pic is what fell to bits.

Morning everyone, It's been ages since I've posted on here. I decided to get my F1 back on the road after a couple of years being laid up. It has sailed through it's MOT but soon developed a fault on the starter button. It wouldn't stop turning the engine over when I let go. I took apart the the throttle grip and the plastic part which holds the button, spring and wiring just disintergrated into tiny pieces.
Will a replacement part from a UK bike fit as My F1 is the American model and I'm sure the wiring will be different.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated

Thanks, Andy

Hi All, Happy New Year

well the sun was out and the roads were quite dry so bolted on the number plate an tax disc, ended up going to Squires Cafe in Sherburn in Elmet.  The bike didn't miss a beat, I was grinning like a kid at xmas.  ;D

Fingers crossed for some good riding weather this year

My bike has now got new tyres and has passed it's MOT, I've got it insured and paid the DVLA the first reg fee and 12 months tax.
I'm just waiting for them to get in touch with me regarding an inspection date.  ;D  ;D

I;m just hoping for a dry day so I can take it for it's first ride out (seems doubtful tho).

The chrome on this bike is in very good condition, with a few pit marks here and there. A good polish should get rid of them. There are a few scratches on the tank and a small rust spot on the frame, but all in all it's all there. The tyres need replacing as they're the originals, hence the other thread.

Hi Brian,
I did an internet search for these tyres, but I can only find the front one.
Do you know anyone who sells 'em?

Cheers

Yes I got the paper work for customs duty. Also got the original owners handbook and the previous keepers insurance documents. Last time it was on the road was '94.
The bike originated from Minnesota

Hi all,
I'd been pondering for quite a while to buy this bike, finally caved in and had it delivered yesterday.
It's an American import, and unrestored. I just need to get it registered and put on the road.
The engine sounds awesome, I'm well pleased with it   ;D
