CB750 / Testing the charge output
« on: June 16, 2009, 11:48:48 PM »
The wires coming from the alternator are looking abit suspect, the plastic covering the wire is split and I can see bare copper on some of them.
could someone tell me how to test it to see if it's charging the battery properly?
I've bought myself a multimeter today but I'm not sure how to test it.

Thanks again
Andy

CB750 / Oil leak
« on: June 16, 2009, 09:12:36 AM »
I've managed to get my bike running and after I took it for a short run I've found oil leaking from the cylinder head.
What causes oil to leak and how do you fix it?  ???
Other than this everything seems to be fine.

Thanks
Andy.

I've bought new cables for my F1 but when I turn the front wheel left or right they stick open. It's fine when the wheel is facing forward.
Any help appreciated as always

CB750 / 750F1 update
« on: May 04, 2009, 12:54:10 PM »
After not managing to get my bike running last year (http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php?topic=1839.0) i totally lost interest, so I packed her away over the winter.
Anyway I'm back at it now, the carbs have been stripped and cleaned, and the engine is back on my kitchen table, the rocker cover is off to check the cam timing.
On inspection the cam chian was out by 1 tooth.
I've bought all the bits I need from DS to get it running. I'll keep you informed how the start up go's next week. :)

« on: May 02, 2009, 10:18:46 PM »
My young lad asked me a question today and I couldn't answer it "Which Bike was the first to do 100mph?"
I think it may have been A British machine but not 100% sure.
Any ideas?

Cheers

« on: May 01, 2009, 05:02:46 PM »
Hi
I've been trying to replace my throttle cable on my F1 and found two wires which have come loose.
One is coloured black and the other is green and yellow. They're located near front brake lever.
Has any one any idea where they're supposed to go? I can't find any thing on the wiring diagram.

Cheers

CB750 / carb cleaner
« on: August 10, 2008, 03:52:22 PM »
Hi, can you buy carb cleaner in a large can? I can only find it in small bottles and I need enough to do all four carbs. I found a product called Berrymans carb and parts cleaner on the other site, is this avialable in the UK? Also what can I use to get the black paint off?  I think they should be bare metal .

Thanks

Andy.

CB750 / nogo
« on: August 02, 2008, 11:37:52 AM »
I'm still struggling to get my bike started.
I have done/checked - carbs,cleaned out jets
                               fresh fuel
                               new plugs with correct gap
                               batery checked and ok

I'm unsure about checking electrics, all the wires seem ok and conected properly.

             Cheers

Hi everyone I'm Andy from wakefield West Yorkshire.I'm restoring a CB750F1. I have had it recently rebored and I am starting to put the engine back together now that I have managed to find replacement pistons. Iam hoping to have it running for the Lotherton Hall show at the end of the month(27th july). This is my first restoration project and I will post some pictures as soon as I've sussed out how to do it.
                        See you soon, Andy

P.S. how co I check that the colour of my bike is original? It's blue and I don't think it's right.
