Changing my clutch cable this weekend, I found the steel guide plate inside the sprocket cover is bent and won't sit in the correct place. When I got the cover back on the guide catches the drive chain.
My question is, can I just remove the guide and run it without Has anyone done this and found it is fine?
Thanks, Steve

Does anyone know if there is a Honda clutch cable which would fit 500/4 but is about 1.3m in length? The cable on mine has gone a bit sticky and I cannot remember what I used, it was so long ago. Might have been XL500? I was hoping not to have to take it off so I can carry on riding until a new cable is ordered.

This morning, I found brake fluid dripping off the end of my brake lever. Does anyone know if the master cylinder can be repaired and are the seals available or am I better off getting a replacement unit?

I am looking for a tool box lid for my CB350K. I'm pretty sure lots of toolbox lids are the same from that era, so cb200, cb250k, cb250G5, etc. Mine fell off and I lost it, along with my tools on the A49 in 1988. Thought I might try and find one and now realise it would have been easier to try looking back in 1988

Soon I am going to look at a friend's Triumph Daytona 900 which he is selling. Has anyone here owned one and is there anything I should look out for. It has only done 4K miles.

1974 500/4
runs really well and is currently on the road. would suit someone who wants a restoration project.
good rear wheel, no brake lining problems, front wheel needs rebuilding ideally
Chrome not great.
Fitted with early CB750 petrol tank but I have the original although that one has a whole in it.
Engine and gearbox excellent.
£1800

I hope people here might be able to advise. My wife and I would like to do some touring in Europe but although we used to go everywhere on my CB500, we were a lot younger then and so was the bike. Nowadays we probably need something more modern and a bit more comfortable. Bearing in mind that the newest bike I've ever ridden is a 1978 CX500, I would appreciate some advice. My initial investigations have brought me to Triumph Sprint 900 perhaps....

Hi,
Looking at the Delkevic four into one stainless steel exhaust pipe. There are some springs between the downpipes and the silencer which I am wondering what they are for and whether they could be removed?
thanks,

Over the years I have had a lot of trouble with errant sparks, especially when damp or wet. A year or so, I replaced the original coils with aftermarket ones but not completely happy with their performance either. I have new plugs and new caps. Periodically, number 1 cylinder drops out with a weak spark. I tried reducing the spark plug gap which has helped.
Does anyone have a recommendation for good reliable replacements as I am not sure about the quality of the ones I am using added to which they don't fit correctly on the frame anyway.
Thoughts??

Insprired by Juits' wheel rebuild and looking ahead to the winter, I think it is time to tackle my front wheel which has needed a build for at least 20 years now.
My questions are, what size is the rim?
What spokes should I order?
Who are good suppliers?
Apart from originality, are there practical considerations between, stainless steel, aluminium, or chromium plated steel? My preference would be for stainless steel but I thought maybe it wouldn't be as stable as aluminium or steel?
I would be grateful for your thoughts.
Many thanks, Steve

does anyone have an exhaust pipe, 4-1, (not motad) or will I just have to fork out a fortune for a Delkevic? current pipe held together with bandages, limited budget.

I fear I may have to rebuild my front wheel this winter. Can anyone here recommend a good person, not too expensive?

I am just renewing my insurance and was surprised how much my premium had gone up and so I am in the process of looking for other quotes.
I haven't thought about or changed my bikes value for many years. What do we think is a reasonable amount to put for a scruffy, perfectly running and well maintained CB500/4 considering what it would cost to replace if someone stole it?

Hello everybody.
Well. it's lasted a good few years but finally my old Laser pipe has rusted so badley there is now a hole. Does anyone have a similar pipe lying around in their workshop that they would like to sell? Also, I noticed Nurse Julie, you had a similar stainless version on one of your bikes. Where did you get it from?
