Title: 1975 honda cb400 four wiring loom location on bike
Post by: Gixerdaz on March 15, 2020, 07:58:41 AM
It's time to re wire a 1975 400 four. I have purchased a new loom as the bike arrived without one. A member of the SOHC kindly sent the routing from the manual. Does any one have some useful pictures of the wiring loom from headlight to the rear of the bike. Thanks muchly 😁

Hi. I can take some pics later but as most of the loom is hidden you will need to refer to the routing pic I sent you to make sense of it all.

Here are some photos for you. The wiring route map I sent is really self explainetary and shows it better than any of my photos will. Also download a full wiring diagram which will give you the wire colours. If your loom is a pattern part, some of the wire colours may be different and if you have a UK bike and have purchased a USA spec loom (or vice versa) the wires for the switch gear will be different. The most important area is the wiring in the headlamp bucket, it acts as a junction box and is like a birds nest and the other point under the big rubber cover (showing in my 2nd photo) is also full of connectors and can be awkward. Make sure all your earth points are good, it will save hours of misery.

Something similar came up at the end of 2018 - Nurse Julie was right there back then, too!

My contribution to that thread follows.  Nurse Julie's bike is in much better condition than mine...

Ok, here's 26 hi-rez pics.  As a reminder, it's a '77 USA spec.  When I was with the bike, I was thinking that you were primarily interested in wiring - looking back now, I see you were interested in brackets and hoses and tubes as well.  So these may be lacking.  Anyway, most of the hoses are out of place since my carbs and airbox are off the bike, as is my front brake system. Hope they help; you didn't specify any particular items you wanted...

The dropbox link will bring you to a folder, which you can download all at once - you'll get a .zip file of about 44Mb.  Or view and download individual pics.

They're basically front, left side, right side, and top.  I took a few angles of the left side ones, especially the electrics behind the left side cover...
