Does anyone know how long it takes the DVLA to turn around applications for age related numbers? I wrote to them before Christmas and haven't heard anything yet. Slightly worried because I included my dating letter from Honda and they cost money.

Was it a new registration of an import? I always photocopy any original documents I send and use Royal Mail special delivery..

I did this early last year to get the DVLA records corrected as part of which an age-related number is issued - my 1977 bike was registered in 1981, year of manufacture also recorded as 1981.
The covering letter I sent was dated 6th Feb, their reply letter was dated 11th March, so a bit over a month in my case.
I don't know whether that is a typical timescale but it is an example.
With Christmas / New Year thrown in to the equation I suspect it may take a bit longer.
Not sure whether you could contact them to enquire about progress.

thanks, that is re-assuring.
Not an import, just sat in the showroom for two years so not registered until 1976, by which time everyone was sensibly buying 550s instead.

Not long I hope, I've sent off my V5 to have the taxation class changed.

Wow, just had a letter and looking on the DVLA website they have now taxed my bike for a further 12 months and amended manufacture date.
Now I hope there is some kind of refund owing for the tax I paid and await the age related number but have to say very good service.
