Good find, thanks for posting Ash.
After reading the article I've just worked out how much a 400/4 would cost today taking into account the inflation costs using the Bank of England inflation calculator. The model was introduced in March 1975 @£650, in todays money it would cost a staggering £5,356.23!  This price indicates a fully restored 400/4 @£5k as a bargain considering the paintwork, chrome etc would (hopefully) be to a higher standard than the original although Honda finish was always a strong point.
A modern day Honda CB500X retails for £6,069.

Does anybody know the engine number when the cylinder length studs were changed? The article states the change took place after chassis number 1057307, this is grreat IF the engine and chassis remain as-built by the factory but I know my engine is not the original! My engine number is 1015494, chassis number 1088426, do I therefore have a potentially leaky engine (although I have fully rebuilt it but I didn't measure or change the studs)?

I think it was only a few that leaked i remember the Kawasaki KZ400 had exactly the same problem with short studs before they put longer ones in . ;D
