As with every other part on this poor old bike the fuel tap has been abused and bodged - O rings etc. missing, all joints and threads 'sealed' with tape / goo.
Thought it might be easier to get a cheap tap on ebay instead of trying to resurrect the old one but they all show 16mm in the description while the thread on the tank is more like 19 / 20mm.
Does the 16mm refer to inside diameter or something or do i need to keep looking for a tap with correct larger thread?

Buy a refurb kit from Wemoto or DSS, or a new tap from them.

Wemoto show one at a reasonable cost but it says 16mm which I wanted to check is corrector if there are different size fittings as the tub3 on my tank is around 19 / 20mm thread

I’ve just bought a cheap 16mm tap from DS £21.48 delivered and fast delivery

The size should be the outside diameter of the thread and i think Honda used 16, 18 and 20 on various bikes but happy to be proved wrong

Checked the tap and it's definitely a 20mm x 1.5mm thread on the tank.
After a long Google I can find these on US eBay but nothing over here.
Maybe the tank is off a totally different model - wouldn't surprise me as everything on the bike has been 'modified'.

Might have to get one from the US or try to fix the old one but it's missing all O rings and an internal washer thingy as well.

All four tanks I've got are 20mm.

They are Fs and F2s. all the same. Was it the Canadian F2 that was 16mm?

F and F1 are bigger than the 16mm F2 😁

Still no luck with the petrol tap.
Neither DSS or Wemoto have 20mm taps or offer any solution.
So far all I can see is ones in the US (with attached high postage costs) or very cheap ones from 'odd' websites in far away lands.
Tempted to give one of the 'odd' sites a go - they have the right thread taps at just a few pounds so can probably get 8 or 9 taps for the same cost as 1 from the US.
No idea on quality but might have a shot and see.

To finish this thread off, lost the will to live Googling for the tap and ordered one from Four into 1 which duly arrived after payment of painful charges etc.
M20 x 1.5mm thread and fits fine to the tank so finally able to run bike without elaborate temporary tank set up.
Still baffled that I have 3 tanks with this thread size but none of the usual sources show taps for them.
Anyway, happy that I can now play a bit easier with setting up the bike.

...well that was a drama I’d never been aware of; upto date I’ve just ordered a petcock. You live and learn... I’m always surprised just how these bikes differed between countries as this must have caused significant manufacturing expenses let alone headaches.
Eg my non Europe F2 has a steering lock within the ignition switch (bloody great)... but headstock is therefore different to UK. Then there’s the pillion footrest loops - or not if non-Europe. Now the petcock. Understand local safety legislations, but the above surely n/a?
