;) hi mike yes I have done the clutch swap several times over the years for some reason or another I do recall one issue with the clutch dragging I think I replaced the thrust washer as they do come in a few different thickness anyway it does work
if I was you I would swap the complete unit as you have suggested less things to go wrong just watch for buckled clutch plates and check they all within specified tolerance

Announcements / Re: TRIGGERS LAST BIKE PURCHASE
« on: May 12, 2019, 08:49:52 PM »
;) dream on .I can see the problem here, you need to sit him down and have a long chat you do realise this is an ongoing illness and will not stop, he is in denial ,if he came online and said this is his last purchase we might agree with you, but  he is like the rest of us addicted to rust there is no cure as yet, apart from buying more rust so let him pick a different colour maybe? perhaps  that will help , try red that looks a lot like rust and it might TRIGGER summit off in his man cave brain  ;)
I suffer from the same illness my wife wants me to go on the jeremy kyle show and front it out , but like most cavemen I dont see that there is a problem I only have six cb750 k0's there is seven days in the week so I think i could stop at seven maybe?
so try and cut him a bit of slack or he will end up on the wagon like me but these days i fall off more than I'm on it, did you know that lager looks like engine oil in a glass? but tastes a lot nicer, they have even named STELLA lager after a woman so we always have our nearest and dearest close by ::) im gonna get another can of oil i have had to much sun  today 8)
 enjoy i pizzed

;) yes I have ridden the NSR 400 very nice on the open road but a bugger around town .I have also ridden the CBR 250 which is a much more user friendly( with its gear driven camshaft )than the two strokes . but that might be my old age kicking in
there was a good series on tv a few months back called "the unrideables" showing the GP 500 highsideing all the top riders at the time they was so unpredictable like throwing a light switch  :o as you say good old bad days that will never return unfortunately, them riders are the real heroes no traction control ,anti wheelie, and slipper clutches for them guys 8)

CB750 / Re: Front brake lever travel
« on: April 09, 2019, 03:56:47 PM »
;) hi have you bled the system? or changed any brake pipes ,check that the rubber pipes don't swell when you pull the lever, if that is the case they will need replacing, although you live in OZ . you might well have moisture in the brake fluid
it does sound like there is air in the system, you can try the old way and back bleed the system remove the master cylinder cap and using little short pulls of the lever you are checking for bubbles coming back up into the master cylinder BEWARE any long pulls will send a jet of brake fluid over you nice paint work so keep some rags handy
the best way is to replace all the brake fluid with a power bleeder and if they are as hard as a cb750 to bleed that may well be your only solution good luck with that
