Yeah checked it no blockage the breather that comes out of crank case should go to oil tank yes
that should  be the gearbox breather (the thin pipe) . i can safely assume you have left the top engine breather and the oil tank breather to just hang down behind the battery(these are the thicker pipes} I have seen cases that people have mistakenly joined the engine breather to the oil tank that thens pressurizes the oil tank ? forcing oil out on to the back wheel very naughty  ;)

Are you using the 4 legged extractor or the single bolt?
i have always used a three leg extractor  you do need too give the extractor a bang with a good heavy hammer aswell  and the alternator has always just sprung off for me?

CB500/550 / Re: What's my oil filter bolt got inside it?

Oil filter pressure relief/bypass valve. If the oil filter becomes badly clogged, the pressure forces oil through the valve to provide unfiltered oil to the crank etc to avoid totally destroying the engine.
yes and the unfiltered oil tends to take bits of crap that has been sitting there with it through the bypass valve ,so you might  still have a engine that is toast?

;) im with k2-k6 on this one
i have always been led to believe that the cases only got smashed on the engine over-run when the throttle is snapped shut and the chain links bunching up on top of the front sprocket ,rather than the chain snapping ,all the chains ive seen snap just run off the sprockets and onto the road?
