Trying to track down a part number for the CB500 Four K0. The number listed 17310-323-000B seems to be the same number for the 500K0 and 500k1 ,but that part of the air box system is different from the 500K0 to the 500K1.
It many be the same part number with a visible different shape part.  ;)

Misc / Open / Tyres : How does she do it.
« on: August 03, 2023, 08:03:57 PM »
At the start of the summer i had to replace a front tyre on Julie's CB550 but, the rear tyre has loads of meat on it. When out for a ride today and she was on her CB500 Four. As i was putting the bikes away, i noticed the front tyre on her CB500 was looking worn out. Took a measurement of the tread and she has got it down to 1.3mm in 3000 miles and , the rear has a ton of tread left on it. This must be down to her riding style  :o

I had a look at some of my bikes and my CB750K6 that i have done 6000 miles since fitting a new pair of tyres  ;)

Other Bikes / CB250 Nighthawk
« on: July 07, 2023, 12:06:47 AM »
We have been having a problem with a CDI unit on one of our CD250U's which Ash has been trying to sort out. So, i have been looking about for a replacement but, have not seen a decent CD250U on the market since i bought my last one some 3 years ago. Then i spotted an original Nighthawk for sale at DK. No real bidding on this so, decided to ask DK what kind of reserve they had in mind as, i had a figure in my head of around £1,500. I was shocked when they said, the reserve they have on this bike is £2,798.  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354883598207

I had a CB250 twofifty with 6,740 miles on it that i sold about 6 years ago for £1,100. DK seem to be living in dream land at there reserved price  ::)

I have never had any problem in removing stuck piston in the brake caliper and have always got them out by turning the compressor up to 300 PSI but, today i was sorting out some calipers that have been in the bottom of a box for years. They would not budge with the air line so, i set too making a tool from old bits that were laying around.

1) you need is a old brake pipe.
2) a hacksaw
3) grease nipple
4) a tap
5) a old copper washer

CB500/550 / Chasing a brake bleed problem
« on: June 22, 2023, 09:00:44 AM »
After building a bike with new brake lines, banjo bolts, washers, piston seal, brake light switch, stainless steel piston, brake nipple, Tourmax master cylinder kit and using DOT5 silicone brake fluid. The brake would pump up fine but, leave it for 5 minutes and the brake lever would come back to the handle bar.

I have never ever had a problem with bleeding brake in my life, i know that it is a system and must be treated as such. Even had a mate turn up with his all dancing suck and blow bleed kit and no success. I changed the master cylinder kit and started the bleed procedure again but, still the same results. So, changed the master cylinder, another set of brake lines, same results. Changed the brake caliper with another new seal and piston trying to work out what was going wrong but, the same results. Time to put it in the back of the workshop as it was driving me mad.

Was out for a spot of breakfast with Chris Rushton and he was telling me about one of his 400's and he had changed his brake light switch for a DSS replica one and the brakes had been shite since.

Got the bike back out on the bike lift yesterday and removed the repro switch and fitted a old Honda one. A couple of bleeds and the brake is perfect now.

Misc / Open / Trying it on with this one
« on: October 13, 2022, 11:58:15 AM »
At first it looks like a UK 750K0 but, it is a bitsa.
Wrong top end
wrong carbs
wrong switch gear
wrong front mudguard
wrong rear mudguard
wrong ignition switch
wrong tail light
And the list goes on but, the seller does state that : These early K0’s are a great investment and are rising significantly in price  :o :o :o So be quick if you want a winter project and have at least 5K to throw at it  ;)

CB750 / CB750K1 buyer beware
« on: August 14, 2022, 07:30:41 PM »
You see a bike up for sale and you think that looks nice but, then you start scanning the pictures to find it has a 750K5/K6 tank and the cylinder head is off a later 750. Can not see properly but, the barrels may also be wrong. Why is the seller not advising this in the listing  :o

CB500/550 / CB500 four K0 ????
« on: August 10, 2022, 08:07:22 AM »
I don't know if any one has seen this on ebay but, what is it ?. The seller recons it is a 500K0 but, the headlight brackets, right hand handlebar switch are K1 and one of the pictures show the helmet holder at the front ? The K0 helmet holder is part of the seat catch so, it looks to be a 500K1 frame .

Is this someone trying to pass it off as a K0 or the seller just doesn't know what the bike is ?
