I was going through some paperwork today because someone asked me how many CB550 engines i have ever rebuilt but, i have never had one like this. In this video you will see the how clean your engine should be before a rebuild ( i wish). This engine must be running on fresh Air>>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uc8uwRwF_U O' and i love the way he puts the rocker arm in the wrong way round

I thought that was a modification on the brake pipe to help with the drop in gravity at high altitude

Yep, could be a non-running show bike. I have built some show engines with no internal parts.

Engines can be a open cheque book. Just do not get carried away with the finish. Polishing and new chrome can cost more than the engine parts.

Good point. Oil is a funny one when in mist form.

Mick, you would only get oil spots down one side of the engine, not both sides. That is what is the confusing part is.

Not sure what bolts you have in the sump but, Unflanged hex bolts are 8 lbs-ft. If flanged then 10 lbs-ft. STD. Drain plug is 25-28 lbs-ft Oil filter bolt is 20-23 lbs-ft.
