What would be an average MPG for a k6 CB750. My chop only has a 2 gallon tank and was wondering how far I would get on a tank full. I think I might have to change my speedo to one with a zeroable tripmeter. :o

Most road tests of the time state about 30-35mpg, which by todays standards is shocking! The F2 with the super lean running pd carbs managed an average of 40mpg! It all depends on how hard or carefully you ride it, best I've ever seen on my 750F1 is 43mpg, steady 80mph on a clear (3am) M, but chances are with a chop you will have a smaller diameter rear wheel and lower gearing, therefore you'll get less mpg!

Not a problem on a chopper though mike , you won't be going touring on it will you, the only issue you'll have is getting fed up with motorists asking you questions about it at petrol stops! 😄

Yep 30-35mpg sounds about right.

Both my F2's only manage low 30's as I have them set a bit rich. They run better.

;) i must ride like a pussy my four cb750 k0's give just over fifty to the gallon
my sidecar unit is a bit thirsty but im sure that is doing well over forty to the gallon
i rarely go over seventy and prefer cruising at fifty to sixty and always go for long runs

On a day out touring around Wales I got about 48 mpg from my CB750F1, mind you I am Mr Slow these days and stick to the speed limits.

Both my CB750 (K2, US Spec) and CB500/4 (K1, UK Spec) return around 43 mpg with normal use. I try, however to avoid town riding (not too difficult in rural Norfolk). On the CB500 I change up at 6,000 rpm as a rule and cruise at 5,000 - 5,500 rpm. Similar speeds are adopted similar with the CB750, although engine rpm is obviously lower.

In the day I reckoned some 15 km/litre. About 40 miles to the gallon?
No speedo connected due to a 250mm Fontana 4 leading shoe drum bake conversion.
Distance covered between gas stations on the German motorways on week end trips to spectate at Moto GPs of the day gave an idea.
And the CB 750 used more than than the same capacity BMW and had only 18 litres to the 24 of the BMW!
In a days riding I came further on the 50 BHP BMW than the faster Honda!
Speed difference minimised after a few years. The BMW dropped an exhaust valve up through Germany from Italy.
More or less outside a BMW dealer. It was just to order a 67 BHP 90S engine!
And off we went even in the first place with the original 32mm vacuum carbs to the 38mm Dell Orto.

Sorry no had to ride pillion on friends BMW home.
Left all luggage on dealers workshop floor.
Only about 8-900 km still to ride.
Think we changed every tank fill.
Wait a fortnight for return in the Mini Cooper.
Took the dealer that long to get an engine.
But actually changing the engines was no big deal.
Had some practise from my first BMW an R69S.
That particular model had a vibrations problem!
After a couple of years a modified engine with a vibrations damper was introduced.
So I had 2 engines to swap every other year as they still had internal problems.
Since boyhood I had dreamed of a BMW. And indeed I still prefer it for long runs.
Wife too feel better on it for vacation trips to Italy.
