So ive got a project going on, and now ive got the engine running i was thinking off exhaust wraps on the fact they look cool. But i know nothing about them. I just wanted to know if it would benifit me or just be a pain in the arse. And just general info on it and if anyone has had experience with it.

Go over to http://forums.sohc4.net (http://forums.sohc4.net) and type "exhaust wrap" into the search bar
Here's a good example of their experience: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=33321.0 (http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=33321.0)

Thanks for putting this thread on the Forum- Ive never heard of the stuff! It would enhance a rust-rotten set of standard pipes for sure.
-
I've never tried it on a bike but in my experience on cars it makes the pipes rot allot quicker.

the ammount of engines ive seen been fire damadged by wrapped exhausts could fill a book, exposed they can get contaminated by oil, desiel, petrol,......... soaks into wrap............ nice hot exhaust and bingo a fire, only 2 things id put on mild steel exhausts is, 1 vht paint.....2 a sprayed ceramic coating but 2 is going a bit overboard as is expensive, but if you want to thrash your bike then hold one of the headers then ceramic coatings the way to go...........................
-
I've read that they start off nice & white but can then pretty quickly get manky & dirty though, which isn't surprising.

Am looking to wrap the headers on my CBR400RRK - you can buy wrap in brown & black which wouldnt look so manky after a few wet rides... :)
Not keen on wrapping the chromeness on my Four tho, sacrilege for sure... :-[

With Motad starting to make exact copies of the Honda originals I think that exhaust wrap would look c**p.
