Title: Clutch Cable.
Post by: Seabeowner on March 03, 2019, 07:17:53 PM
Anyone have experience with the clutch cable sold by DSS for 500. Says it is produced by OE manufacturer, but much cheaper than Honda brand.

I've bought a couple of these over the years, mainly due to the Honda item not being in stock.

They seem to work well enough, however on both of them the plastic inner sleeve on the engine end has eventually peeled back, leading to a stiff clutch action until the cable is replaced. For this reason, I now keep a new spare in my parts box.

So... what does ***OEM*** CLUTCH CABLE exactly mean?
It may be OEM but that does not mean it was 'Original' part to that bike, it just means it was manufacturered by the same company to the same spec and may or may not fit your bike, it may fit many bikes and can be marketed by any company and these days made by any company. A lot of companies use OEM incorrectly these days, like they also say 'Genuine', yes, it may be genuine Honda but not 'genuine' to the bike. It's actually 'original part' you are looking for in the adverts, or even better NOS parts.
Edit....all cables are a nightmare anyway, whether they are original or genuine or pattern. Sooooo many variations available.
