Title: Stupid Motobatt
Post by: Green1 on July 25, 2021, 09:23:48 PM
I normally sing Motobatts praises but not today.
I finally broke the bikes out of a 2 year hibernation
I had both batteries out of the 750 and 550 in my haist to put them back in connected the wrong one up so reversed polarities in the 550.
Smoke pop bang everything dead is what promptly follows  :-[
Obviously its Motobatts fault  because I would never do anything that stupid.  ;D ;D
I could blame the fact I'v been diagnosed with posibble long Covid but I have already exhausted that excuse after reversing into a Scania truck that compleatly filled my mirrors and some how I didn't see it.

Boooooo to Scania and Motobatt, how could they be so inconsiderate to muck up your week  ;D

While out off road bicycling with my son on a section called as "Barry knows best" got the knobbly edge lugs of front tire tractioned into one side of a gulley,  which it tried to climb and binned me off the side  :o now have an elbow that looks like meat that's been french polished  :D
How can the tyre makers produce such ridiculous grip, so very inconsiderate of them.  :)

I will keep an eye out for you Brian.  ;D

I'v had a lack of sleep the last few days I finished work at 7pm Saturday and went straight out to the garage.
I striped the complete harness from the bike and split it open to find many dodgy splices and broken wires.

Someone had clearly been messing with it in the past as live wires were piggy backing of each other and earth wires spliced and patched with red cable.
No wounder the wiring diagram made no sence.
After many hours testing, striping or replacing every single wire I now have a new working loom.
I finished and had it all reinstalled by 2am had dinner and went to bed by about 4. I woke up at 7am this morning woundering if I had wired it up correctly pressed the starter and it turns over lovely. Forgot to buy fuel on the way home from work tonight so can't see if it fire up yet but looking promissing.  :)

Hopefully the knakered loom was the cause of all my running issues I'v had since I'v owned the bike.

I use the bikes as an escape from work but staying up all night and then working the following day has knocked it out of me a wee bit.

Will I do it again to save myself a bob or two.
Yes because I can't help myself Bikes keep me sane if a little tired.

Nice work and at least gives you confidence you've got all the bugs out of it now.

I view electrics generally as capacity and insulation, with the two things correct it all works  :)

Not there yet it dicided to only fire on 2+3.
Many hours later it eventually dawned on me I'v connected the coils up wrong  ::)
If I'm lucky it will fire up tomorrow.  :)
