No you cant drop the needles into existing differing positions on an f2 cause they havent got any, but you can shim the needle,I think theres a kit available.

Hi Roy
Had my headers done,like you wanted gloss black but on the recommendation of the coaters went with a satin black finish,apparently the gloss black loses it gloss quickly.Very pleased with the result,easy to keep clean and has stayed looking really  good for close to two years now.Has all the makings of being a very durable finish,went with the company linked below and received excellent service and turn around times,they will even arrange for collection if you want.

Its not necessary to connect the rear breather to the oil tank,the engine breathes from the rocker cover the rear crankcase vent is only used as an over spill for the oil tank and also in the case for the F1/F2 to allow the oil tank to breathe as its sealed by the O ring on the dip stick,unsure if the K series bikes oil cap seals the tank or not.
Cant see any reason why you cant just cap the rear one and run a small K&N type filter on the rocker cover one or go old school Triumph and run an open vent pipe along the frame and exit at the ass end of the bike

You need to have the drum skimmed back to true as part of the complete wheel,so leave it as it is,any of the wheel building companys should be able to do it for you,but a small engineering company with a lathe with a big enough throw can also do it and probably a lot cheaper.
I think a company called Central Wheels,If memory serves is one such place that offers this service.

CB750 / Head Question

Did a search on the site regarding cylinder heads and leakage from same and got some good info but I still have a couple of questions that perhaps you guys can answer. Engine is a 1978 F2, on a genuine Honda head gasket four of the oil return ways have a smaller hole which means that the knock pins and square section seals cant be used in those places, which confirms the info in the workshop manual that on the F2 these are a deleted item,does anyone know why these are deleted, have noticed that this point has been ignored by aftermarket generic gasket makers who seem to make all the oil return holes the same size,even though they claim suitability for the F2 engine, which means that for the F2 at least that four of them are far too large.
On the subject of torque values for the head,will follow those recommended but will do a three stage tighten down till final value then leave overnight and check again ,hopefully this will allow full crush to be achieved and  full final torque value to be a true one.
What I am hoping to avoid is yet another removal of the engine to re-torque after initial running,is this a good enough method if not what do think would be the best way based on your own practical experience.

Mick pics posted except for the Thunderbird as its not yet finished and somewhat buried due to some alterations to the garage,but will post when done. Phil will check on the O rings on the other site,but I have had the head skimmed by 6 thou and the block by 2 thou so effectively increasing the thickness of the rings by 8 thou and it still leaked after about 20miles. off with its head again this weekend and a session with some crack detecting dye is in order.

Hi Mick Clarke here in the sunny south,well Gosport to be exact. Current collection of bikes 1978 CB750 F2,in cafe racer guise, 1975 T140 Bonnie also in cafe racer guise, 1964 Thunderbird in state of repair, 1969 T120 pretending to be a T120TT. 1969 BSA Lightning.
Retired so probably spending far too much time in the garage. Finished the CB750 was a full rebuild from the frame up,ran well for just over a year and now seems to have developed an appetite for head gaskets consistent leak from front left between #2 and #3.
Just about to remove the engine for a third time,good job I am retired I guess.
Guess that about covers it I am sure I will be saying more in the future.
