Hi,
Clearing out some very old piles of bits and pieces and came across an old and incomplete sports fairing I'd been given some time back in the 80's.
It's been in the attic / shed ever since and I had no idea what bike it was even for.
Pinged a couple of photos to Mead Speed - still going and they kindly replied that it was for a 400/4 and no longer made.

No idea if it's of any interest to anyone - I guess maybe on the very long off-chance someone needs some replacement bits.
Could stick it on eBay I guess, otherwise it'll have one final exciting race to the skip.

Great to hear what people think - having never been into classic cars it's a strange new world but sounds like a bit of fun!.
Had a look at a Stag today and a decent drive out - quite good fun but not as impressed as I'd hoped and having some doubts about a soft-top as even the owner was saying he's nervous parking up anywhere public.
So might scrap that idea!
Did think about a slightly less old classic convertible but think I'd then just as well get a much newer car with full electric gadgetry and comfort and forget the classic bit!
Next on the list I do quite fancy is a Capri 2.8i - again no reason or history with them but just like the look of them and maybe more 'useable' for a bit of fun.
Will see if I can find one to try out over the next few days while in the mood for reckless spending!

Hi,
Having the garage over-filled with bikes and projects, obvious thing is to consider buying an equally unreliable old car for a laugh.
No real reason as I have never really been very interested in cars but am considering a Triumph Stag for a bit of summer bimbling.
Anyone have any words of wisdom or warning before I begin my novice journey as a salesman's dream buyer.

Decided I'm not going to bother with international postage - just keep to UK buyers.
I'm keen to clear stuff but really can't be bothered with anything complicated / risky.
Already getting tired of enquiries about listings - guess I'm simply more suited to buying than selling!!

Haven't got very far with this!!
Had 3 chats with eBay about adding GSP to a couple of live listings and after the final one I now understand that on one I can't add it as a bid has already been placed and on the other one for some reason it shows as excluded from the GSP system (it's a Speedometer).
They did give a couple of options to work around this but it means going back to me arranging postage and to be honest I understand so little about international postage that I really can't be bothered Googling any further.
As I have had numerous overseas enquiries asking if I'll ship abroad, I feel a bit guilty saying no all the time and I just wondered if it is an option to simply say that I won't post but if anyone buys it they can arrange collection themselves.
I thought maybe this would avoid me having to get costs for shipping or any involvement in customs paperwork / charges etc. - presumably I could just package the bits and have them ready for collection.
Does that sound sensible / workable or have I missed something important (more than possible!).

The CJ certainly always got mixed reviews - more negative than positive I guess.
I'm no CJ apologist either - for some reason I just quite liked them from back in the day when we borrowed a fairly tired one to replace a mates brand new Superdream for a trip to Devon when he stripped the sump plug the day before leaving.
The CJ belonged to a neighbour and was tired, badly maintained, slow and underpowered but somehow made it for the whole week and endeared itself to me for that.
When I saw one very cheap on eBay a good few years ago I couldn't resist and then a second one turned up, equally cheap, a few weeks later. Finally got the 360 along with the 400/4 for a bargain price so that made a very pretty orange pile in the shed!
NOS parts for them were also worth nothing (until more recently) so I couldn't resist buying some to add to the collection.
After a few big 4-strokes and the 400/4 it was great fun doing the CJ - everything weighed less, cost less and engineering-wise was more simple.
I still quite like the look of them and as Dave says there don't seem to be many restored ones around so maybe it's about time a few got their turn.

Oddjob, Not sure if any interest but there's a really good forum on compressors and blasting etc. on the Mig welding forum - been following some threads for a while as I'd really like to do some home blasting but have all the usual electrical, space, cost problems to sort before jumping in. Hi Sesman, Thanks, the bike was fun to restore as I got it very cheap and had lots of NOS and spare parts collected over the years for it (when old bikes and parts were cheap and not all over-priced as rare, collectible, vintage treasures!). Tried to get it as close to original as reasonable without going overboard - although 99.9% of sane people would question spending so much time / money on the sadly unloved CJ. Engine cases are painted - colour is the one Nurse Julie recommends for the 400/4 (have got number somewhere if you need it). Couple of pics... I was logged out of the site yesterday on my phone app and now unable to log back in even though I know the password I am using is correct. This is only affecting the phone app though, not the laptop.
I also recieved a notification of a message yesterday but its not there, not on the phone app or the laptop.

Sounds like GSP might be the way to go for me - don't think it'll be a regular thing for me and this at least sounds straight forward.
Am I right that I can simply go back into my live eBay ad and add the international shipping option - the bidders can then get the cost on eBay depending on where they are without any further details from me?

Hi,
Hoping someone can offer a bit of advice.
I'm finally clearing out some of the accumulated 'treasures' from the bike sheds and have started listing various bits on eBay.
So far been reasonably simple for a newbie to selling anything but I've got a couple of bits on which have got interest from abroad and I've no idea what's involved in posting these.
From a very dull Google session I can manage UK postage but didn't really grasp the international side.
Current example is a set of clocks for a GS1000S so a medium size but quite fragile package and a guy in Australia has asked what cost would be to send this.
From experience, does anyone know where to look for costs on postage, explanation of paperwork involved.
Finally any views on whether posting overseas is 'reasonably' safe or a very high risk.
Any views and advice very welcome!
