Thanks for posting Nigel, very interesting reading.
I am selling the Z400J Kawasaki I restored last year. It's not because I don't like it, it's a lovely bike but there's only room for one 400/4 in the garage and that will always be my yellow 400/4. I have decided to go down the auction route, I have approached Matthewsons and Bonham's. I heard back from Mathewson's within 24 hours but heard nothing from Bonhams, maybe it's not high end enough for them to include in their sale! I'll also give H&H a try.
The reason I am going auction and not private or eBay is due to the horror stories I've heard about 'buyers' coming round, leaving a holding deposit of £100 and two days later the seller's garage is burgled and the bikes stolen.
The article highlights the current climate though, older British bikes are falling out of favour, the baby boomers of the 70/80’s are buying bikes they dreamt of.

An interesting article. And a bit of a bugger coz I’ve a nice SS50 and FS1-E, but can’t sell them here (Brisbane) fundamentally because they never existed ‘down under’. And at this stage, I’m not quite prepared to give them away.
Ho hum…
