I'm a Administrator/Moderator on another forum and totally understand the 30 to 40 new registrations a day, and them all being (PIA fekkin) spammers. Anything to get rid of these parasites is only a good thing, Ok sometimes it causes a bit of "having to get used to the new layout" but compared to the hassle the spammers cause the Admin, this is little discomfort.

Applause to Steve.

I also understand the resistance to change, after all, we ride motorcycles that are so fekkin out of date who could blame us ;D ;D ;D

then i get a cheap parts bike!! (Or is that a little too cynical at Christmas)

 :D :D :D

Yep I like folk like that, I was once given a GSX250 in big boxes by a bloke down our road, he'd stripped the engine to do a job, failed and passed it on to me for parts, that was Saturday afternoon, by Sunday night I was riding it up and down the road and MOT'd it on Monday, sold for

Thanks Tomb. I will look into getting it done! Looked for a set of second hand ones but think they were off a CB900. Didn't say OKI MPS-200 on them so didnt buy.

Ste this is from your introduction post but I'll answer it here in case anyone does a search later.

I found some info on the Honda ignition modules, Clicky, it appears the same as I had been informed about the IKO units, that they're the same unit on all the Hondas of that era. I bought some to try on my Yam XS1100 but went with the OE in the end, but kept the IKO units to convert my 500/4 to electronic (havn't bothered yet as the 500/4 points are so bloody reliable but thats another story ;))

So you should be able to use any original Honda units from the models listed on the link

Does this look like a bargain? 350515968981
Be quick if it does, ends soon!

To answer your original question, yep it looks reasonable, that said, DK's are selling it, and I've never known anyone get a bargain of DK's ever

That experience comes from looking at their Yamahahaha stuff for sale, they're selling an engine for an XS1100 for

That looks nice Ste. My brother bought one brand new back in the day.

You can buy potting stuff (for want of the right word :-\) to re-pot the ignitor, don't ask me where, my brother looked into it. If your ignitor is still working I'd go that route.

If its the same as the CB900 and CBX ignitors, IKO's if I remember right, the potting does tend to go soft and run out (rather crawl out) over years, its not so much melted quickly. My brothers CB900 had the same problem so he turned them upside down on their bracket to let the potting run back in LOL :D :D

Can't really answer your question but do you cross reference part numbers between US and Euro bikes? If they are the same then the headlights would be the same. CMSNL.com has THE most extensive listings of bikes by country. Give them a try for cross referencing.

The US and Euro headlights could well be the same but they dip to the right, UK headlights dip to the left so the chances of the references being the same is slim. More likely to be the same as "Oceana"(sp? :-\) models have the same refence numbers, those from NZ, AUS, Japan.

I've welded tanks many times, I usually wash them out with paraffin to remove the petrol, then swill them out with soapy water, never had so much as a puff.

I remove dents by cutting 2"-ish holes in the bottom in the tunnel, knocking the dents out using a radiused end piece of wood and hammer, they can be de-dented to nearly original needing the tiniest smear of filler before paint. The 2" hole can have a patch welded on under where no-one sees it.

Can I ask one of my usual daft questions   ....oil pan bolt?? to change the oil and filter?? ???

When I change oil and filter I remove two bolts, one in the oil filter housing, the other the oil drain thats in the sump pan. Neither of them I could run without. :-\

Is there summat I don't know, Ok yep lots I don't know LOL, but about the oil + filter change
