Don't bother with the Samaritans. It's all automated these days. Press 1 if you're feeling suicidal Press 2 if you've murdered your spouse That kind of thing. If you press 1, you get connected to an Arabic call centre who asks you if you can drive a truck or a light aircraft.

I went on some good ride outs with the bike club but nothing major. We didn't even have a holiday this year. I caught up with some major DIY projects and I started a new career, repairing coffee machines, which involves a lot of training in Milton Keynes. Last day in MK tomorrow

I've got a gadget that magnetises screwdrivers. Screws stay on the end, not the stainless ones though.

I picked up a great tip for working with Araldite. It's less messy and more controllable. Use the side by side syringe type and squirt some in the corner of a plastic food bag. Massage the bag to mix it up. Snip the corner off the bag, the size of the hole depending on what you want to repair. Squeeze the mix out just like icing a cake.

I'm so sorry to hear about Hairy. It's like losing one of the family. After leaving over 2700 posts on the forum, we've lost a good friend.

Hi Paul. There's no pi55 taking on here, just helpful advice and banter.

DKW stands for Dampf Kraft Wagen. Dampf bring the German word for steam. Just thought I'd share that.

I enjoyed the Miners Arms bike night. I never heard of it until John texted me. I rounded up some club members and we headed off along the A48 to Chepstow then up the side of the Severn. We all agreed it was a great evening's ride.

I'm using 5 ohm coils. Some people use 3 ohm or less and the system has excessive current consumption and overheating.

It's got a Dyna S system, no points, condensers etc. Anyway, I rode it to work and back and it's OK. Not sure yet whether it's fixed because it was an intermittent fault but so far, good

The blind rivet doesn't hold a cover thing (escutcheon) in place, it just holds a thick washer over the skinny part of the lock.
