Top tip on the red rubber grease. Rubber gasket staying in place now.
The bolts for the rocker cover are a mixture of all sorts, and thread on one is suspect.
Planning to get a set of new. Can anyone recommend a supplier? I see Nurse Julie got a full set from  Yamiya but I only need the rocker cover bolts. Cheers H

Another vote for ignition switch. Same happened in my K3. Put a DSS one on whilst the original one is being sorted.

Hi Andrew. Sorry to hear your news. Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery, and hopefully you'll be back on the bikes before you know it! Take care. Harold.

CB350/400 / Rocker cover gasket
« on: July 16, 2019, 01:50:50 PM »
I've had an annoying oil leak from top of cylinders, so I started by checking the cylinder head nut torques. Most were not to correct torque so carefully tightened and got them all to torque up. Hopefully this was reason for the leak.

I've come to put the rocker cover back on complete with new rubber gasket.
How do I hold the gasket in place whilst fitting the rocker cover? I've seen red rubber grease mentioned on here. Will that do the trick??

Many thanks
H

Down in Sidmouth, Devon for a long weekend. Caught a glimpse of  blue 400/4 on the seafront on Saturday late afternoon. About an hour later, saw another, red this time. Anyone on here?

Dave. Did the Delkevic system all line up ok when you fitted it, or did you have to make any adjustments??

Lobo. I have exactly the same issue with my 400/4. Once the rocker cover is off, can you get at all the bolts to tighten down without dismantling camshaft etc etc? I was planning just to torque up, but see you slackened off before torquing? What is the reason for this?? Many thanks

Had this on my 400/4 when the choke lever caught on the top of my boot. Took me ages to suss.

Agree, very different bikes. I have a 400/4 and a 550k3. 550 more mellow to ride, more torque. Fewer gear changes. Never had an issue with the carbs as yet, although they do have something of a reputation. Only issue I've had with 550 was when ignition switch gave up the ghost. I couldn't chose between them. Suggest you need one of each......
