Does anybody use Shell Helix HX7 10/40w semi synthetic oil in their 750, any reason not to use it?

Too bloody expensive for 1500 mile changes and i personally dont like anything with synthetic in the name and wet clutches.
Tesco own brand none synthetic is the right spec.

Nope i still have some Transfleet left i bought in bulk years back but would use the Titan if there was a local supplier, i was trying to give an easy to get answer.

Wow that's not a bad price, looks good give it a go you can always take it out again. But as Bryan says it's semi-synthetic so watch out for your clutch slipping. It appears to be fine with the added bonus that it slightly quitens the clutch rattle on the 750, although getting rid of the clutch rattle altogether will require divine intervention. ;D

Copied from their info sheet. As normal with most of these descriptions it's going to do absolutely everything for you along with cleaning up everyone else's mess that's been made inside your engine!!! ;D
I wouldn't worry about the "semi/part synthetic " labelling as it's mostly marketing puff. It largely equates to sharing a shelf with something identifying as synthetic in all practical reality. There's a bigger story as to why oils are labelled as such without being what we'd normally understand as to what synthetic actually means.
Can't see it as a problem to use it, seems a decent quality oil and seriously doubt you'd encounter any concerns.

One word of caution (purely based on experience rather than any empirical evidence) - in my experience semi-synthetic oils in our engines have a habit of finding leak paths. Don’t ask me why / how, but I’ve had oil tight engines suddenly start sprouting leaks after an oil change to semi-synthetic. I generally stick with 10w/40 mineral oils.

As an owner of an old air cooled Porsche, I also have to hang about on forums dedicated to them, the general consensus is that modern oils are too slippery for the oil seals designed for old fashioned dinosaur oil, and will make a bid for freedom where they can.
