CB750 / What is the carb size on a '78 F2?
« on: September 17, 2011, 09:22:00 AM »

Does anyone know what size the carbs are on the '78 F2?

I've looked on the web and all I can find so far is that the '69-'76 are 39mm and the '79-'83 DOHC are 42mm

That looks good - I was thinking about something similar, maybe grafting on a goldstar type silencer?

Will try drilling it out first. Did you drill through both baffles? i.e. front and back, or just the one that can be felt if you stick your finger in it  :o

Does anyone know if it's possible to put another (louder) can on the std Motad downpipes?

Failing that, has anyone stripped out the baffles, or modified them, successfully on this type of pipe? I'm tempted to get the angle grinder out and see what happens but thought I'd ask first ;D

Funny you should mention ace bars, I bought a set on e-bay not an hour ago, but I bought them because they had both switchgears and master cylinder still attached, I dont actually want the bars! Give it about a week for them to arrive and for me to remove the bits I want, and they're yours. By the way, welcome to the forum, and you can't get better than a cb750! ;D

That's very kind of you - what a great welcome to the site  ;D

CB750 / Oil leak - neutral switch 0-ring seal???
« on: September 11, 2011, 06:56:45 PM »

Hi Guys,

Just bought a 1978 CB750 F2 and could do with some help/advice. I noticed a small oil leak when collecting the bike yesterday - the previous owner said it was coming from the neutral switch and that changing the o-ring would be a simple fix. The bike has been in the garage overnight and has leaked a bit more oil than I would like - something like a desert spoonfull at a guess.

Can anyone confirm whether what they previous owner said sounds about right? I'd also be greatfull to know if it's an easy job to fix?

Hi, I've just bought a 1978 F2 in reasonably clean condition. The plan is to Cafe Racer it.

Anyone know where I can get decent, reasonably priced, parts in the UK? I'm after the normal: ace bars; two-four style seat; new rear light/numberplate assembly. Could also do with a decent exhaust as it's got a Motad on and it's way too quiet ;D

Never owned a CB750 before but have had various bikes over the years: FSIE; KH250; RD350LC; Zephyr 1100; ZX6-R

As well as the CB I also own a ZX12-R, an Edwards rep RSV Mille and a KTM300EXC
