It’s a miracle anything connected! All cleaned now, every terminal from every connector removed and cleaned. Still planning new harness. Harness stripped and checked renewed a few connectors, just to do until bike is painted and to check everything else.

If you remove the loom and put it in a dishwasher, it comes out like new

I did wonder Mike, wife was out this afternoon too.😂 it’s been in a bucket with hot water and detergent for a swill around.
-
Not half as good.

...interesting Mike. My concern would be water ingress under the various insulation’s and later corrosion ... does this pass the time test ok?
-
+1 with Mike's idea, it works a treat. No long term issues either.
Just make sure you have a bottle of dishwasher cleaner to run through the machine before the o/h gets home!

Good tip!
You’ll be in less trouble than when I put an oily cylinder head in the oven, to get the valve guides out. :-\
-
Used to pop the bike chains the oven in a tin of that solid chain lube. Wife couldn't complain as one of them came off her bike.
Just remembered. LynkLife.

That's an interesting idea for cleaning up the wiring wish I had thought of it as I spent ages with cotton buds, WD40, lolly sticks, and cloths cleaning up mine, pretty boring job but nice when it was finished. All the connections were treated with dielectric grease afterwards as well.
Cheers

I once put a flywheel ring gear in the oven and the bare flywheel in the freezer to fit the ring gear - it worked a treat! Wendy wondered what the hot smell was in the kitchen when she got home from work - I almost got away with it!
-
I think a curry pie in with bike part in the oven, might disguise the aroma. Wouldn’t have the same effect in the dishwasher though.😂😂
-
If it's a Servis dishwasher, I'll scrounge some parts off you. I used to work for Servis and I've got loads of spares in the attic. Unfortunately, not the parts I need.
-
I’m amused at the thought we are going to need a dishwasher and an oven in our sheds/workshops! Or maybe.....?
No she would never have it.😆

My Kitchen is my workshop. ;D
Don't forget the washing machine has its uses aswell. I wash out brushes and rollers in it.
Servis dishwashers are great mine went for donkeys until the bottom fell out. :o

I didn’t put the whole loom in but dipped the connectors in my ultrasonic cleaner, came out a treat
