Might be worth assessing your budget and key needs (eh hard luggage/ fairing/ minimum engine size..) then searching - dealers only - in a reasonable radius. It might throw up some other options too and point you to a few free rides!
Having said that, whilst I haven't ever ridden a VFR they've always been in my mind as top of the list for a ride all day sports tourer. There are a surprising number of MK1 750's too so you can still buy a classic!

Thanks for the thoughts. It's holding air happily, as I would expect - and I think the pressures are lower than my mountain bike which is 36-38psi,(from memory). Valve cap is on too, so I'll sleep easily now,!

I found a 550 wheel/ tyre without a valve, so I took one from a brand new mountain bike tyre and popped it in. It fits and seems to be holding air .....I assume they are all built to the same standard so no reason for a bicycle one not to work on motorbike. Pressure is probably similar.
Any thoughts gratefully received!

Steady! That tank rack is the best item on my 5TA. The kids know it as 'the fish and chips rack' for its usual load!

I have a 650 one...it's a good solid thing compared to the 550 one, and it polishes up nicely.

Suzuki GS 550 cast wheels leap to mind. Possibly other GS's if the early 80's.

I started to watch this film - Eat the Peach - on BBC iPlayer.
Motorcycle film from 1986 / Ireland.... started off well with an early 80's Honda dirtbike and a three-wheeled Honda thingy ( I recall watching the lady-Mayor of Hull flipping one of those before they were outlawed!). I only watched 15 mins because I'm rubbish at sitting in front of the telly, but it looks pretty watchable - and it's on BBC iPlayer so it's free! Thought it was worth mentioning!
Plus, it also referenced Roustabout by Elvis, which inspired the film and led me to a film of Elvis on the Wall of Death ( check out YouTube). Awesome!

I put some shiny Allen bolts on my engine casings and I wish now I had used hex ones ... they look more original. I'll swop them at some point.

Thanks . I've found that they also offer a spray version in white which would be a good base for my blue / white gsxr paint! Recommendation is to use it over their base layer/ treatment so I'm going to give that a go when it's a little warmer.

From Scotland I would be tempted to take the Newcastle - Norway party boat and ride down from there - that would add in Norway + Denmark & possibly Sweden too!
