Title: Smokey 350f
Post by: Moorey on July 10, 2019, 06:37:35 PM
Well I promised myself I would be back to riding the 750 again by my birthday which is this week. So I took the 350 of the road yesterday to sort out the smoking number 3 cylinder. It has served me well since it went back on the road at the end of March having done over 1000mls.
Pulled the top end down in search of the cause. It really is clean in this engine with very little wear on anything the cam baths haven't been cleaned they are just as I mopped out the oil. A score mark can be seen on #3 cylinder.

Removed the barrels to reveal the culprit. A broken oil control ring. There was also a mark at the bottom of the stoke in the cylinder my best guess is the ring has stuck to the cylinder for some reason whilst stood all those years. Thankfully no piston damage.

Shouldn't take much to get that back to perfect. A light hone and new rings whilst it's apart?
