Good Morning all
Can anyone help me please I brought a Honda CB550K3 a while ago and it not running very smoothly when out on the road so i changed the plugs and done the timing and balanced the carbs (Well attempted too ;D ) I am just wondering if I got the ignition leads back in the right order ? I have had a look in the manuals and I can't find a write up or picture to tell me which coil outlet feeds which cylinder I know L/H side coil feeds L/H side cylinders & R/H side coils feed R/H cylinders So which ignition leads go to which cylinder from the coils, Any guidance on this I would be most grateful
Also for further reference which NGK plugs are best for mid range use
Many thanks
Gromitdog ;D

Hi I’m sure others will confirm this but if it’s the same as a K1, one coil is 1&4 and the other is 2&3.

Morning gromitdog :)
Yes as above, one coil feeds both 1 and 4 cylinders, and the other 2 and 3 doesn't matter which is which from a single coil as it fires both leads in parallel. Just that the HT leads of 2+3 wouldn't normally reach the outermost two plugs.
To see which is which coil, just trace the trigger wire from points marked 1+4 to the coil and fit to those cylinders. Wires are usually yellow and blue.
Plugs are normally starting with ngk 8 heat range.

I use 7's in winter and 8's in summer usually as they are slightly cooler?? to be honest it doesn't seem to make much difference.
