Thanks Pete, yes Yoshi is the "F2 guru"!!,

Thanks for your advice - will be picking your brain along the line I am sure. Very impressed with the finishes you are getting on your F2 engine etc. You must be an engineer by trade?

CB750 / CB900 / 750 swing arm compatabilty??

More cafe racer thoughts for my F2.

I seem to recall swing arm on the CB900 was more or less the same as 750 sohc. Thinking of aftermarket item such as Metamex etc?

Anyone know?

Have read on "tinternet" about people doing this by electolysis method. get rid of this worst with shaking / bolts method, the basically filling tank with water some salt and and setting up anode and diode connected to a battery. I'm no scientist but there were possitive reports. May have been on US sohc site, don't know. Google it!

Thanks. The reason I ask is I want to build an stretched tank by welding the rear half of one tank onto another complete one. Interchangeability between models will ease the search! Looking at various other donor bike tank styles such as 500T or even a CX500 as shape is quite retro.

CB750 / K series tanks similarities

Can anyone tell me if the basic shape of any K series tank shapes are the same. I appreciate decals etc will vary. Thinking specifically of K2 and K5 models but interested in general interchangability.

Any advise much appreciated.

PS can hold my head high on the site now as I actually now have a sohc Honda. Bought the 750F2 advertised on this site in Feb. It is now sitting gathering dust while I plot cafe racer and find the time!

CB750 / Re: F2 MOTORS ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY AOUT THEM?
« on: December 23, 2009, 11:26:47 PM »
As Bryan says, the F2 motor was the most powerfull SOHC CB750 motor, the bottom end is bullet proof and it's only the valve guides that are dodgy. Like all the CB750's they need regular oil and filter changes but apart from that they are very reliable.

Cheers

Dennis

What about availability of parts such as valve guides. Again have read comments about spares for the F2 motor being hard to get. Is there an option on uprated / higher spec valve guides.

Also and off on a tangent -  did F2 come with electronic ignition as standard or was this the last of the points models?

CB750 / F2 MOTORS ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY AOUT THEM?
« on: December 22, 2009, 09:04:15 PM »
During my search for a 750 to buy, there are all too many comments on this site to warn against them for "chocolate motors"

Is this always the case or can they be reliable? Is poor reliability allied to lack of correct maintenance.

Appreciate any comments.
