CB650 / 1980 CB650 from Hawaii
« on: December 24, 2017, 12:40:02 PM »
Hi All,
my friend Pat, who runs a cycle salvage in Toledo found this bike from a fellow, and it is a bit rough and missing the left side cover. He had never seen one without ComStars on it and this one has wire wheels, making it the standard model, I guess. The fellow he got it from used to be stationed in Hawaii in the service, and brought it back home with him. Just thought I would share it with the forum!

Hi again,
I helped a friend of mine replace a burnt up Dyna ignition with points on a 1973 CB750K, and we robbed a 1976 CB750A model of its advance mechanism, and points plate. I noticed a different number on the CB750A plate, 333 vs. 300 on a CB750K model plate. We used the 'A' model as the cam was still on the advance mechanism, and the parts were all from the same bike. The CB750A is a 1976, and the bike is a 1973 that we installed it into. I static timed the points, and we didn't have time to fire it up last night. We also kept the green Dyna 3 ohm coils. Is there any incompatibility here? Thanks!

CB750 / 1971 Honda CB750 K1 - Can anyone ID these forks and wheels?
« on: November 01, 2017, 01:16:09 PM »
Hi All,
Recently acquired a 1971 CB750 K1, and it has a set of ComStar wheels and forks off of a different model CB750. I am thinking perhaps an early 80's CB750 DOHC, but would value any information about them. It looks like he swapped the whole front end, but it still has the handlebar top clamp with the idiot lights in it. I am not sure if he swapped the rear fender, also. I appreciate any input you may have on this bike. The ignition switch was 'butchered' into a keyed automotive type switch mounted behind the cylinders, too. Thanks!

New Member Introductions / Hello! New SOHC 1971 CB750 K1 owner!
« on: November 01, 2017, 01:04:41 PM »
Hi All,
I recently had an opportunity to purchase a 1971 CB750 K1, and I went for it. I have always admired the old Hondas, never owned one till now. I am looking forward to working on it, and perhaps doing a bit of restoring or customizing on it. The previous owner did a little bit of parts swapping, looks like a set of wheels and forks off of a later model DOHC CB750, perhaps an 80's model, as it has ComStar wheels on it. But, it runs, and sounds very nice with the 4 into 2 side pipes. The oil smells a tad bit like gas, so that is the first thing to do, change the oil! I believe the oil needs ZDDP, so I will use Rotella first, then look for something better. Here are a few pics!
